It looked like they were going to win in shutout fashion, that was until the ninth inning. CalebSmith had a fantastic outing and the offense exploded with a season-high 18 hits. Six innings of work, while only giving up one hit is no joke against a stacked Phillies lineup. Top to bottom there are difficult batters that must be faced. When Smith ran into some trouble he held everything together well.The first inning was a long one for Smith. He started things off with a strike out and a fly out. Bryce Harper and Rhys Hoskins each walked, setting up J.T.Realmuto. After a ridiculous 11 pitch battle, Smith would get Realmuto out swinging. Realmuto would actually be kept hitless tonight. While it was great Smith made it out, his pitch count was hit hard. The Phills also did their part, hitting deep into counts throughout the night. It was great to see everything run smoothly, at least until the ninth inning.Adam Conley was called in to shut the door on the Phills. What followed was a bit messy, but he did finish the inning. The Phills would score three runs on three doubles and a single. While yes it is easy to complain about how he pitched, this was the right time to be bad. Nick Anderson also got to pitch an inning and show why he is one of the best relievers at the moment. The Marlins offense was anemic last night, tonight was a complete reversal. The Fish started scoring in the second inning. MiguelRojas started it off with a double down the left field line. AustinDean brought Rojas home on a single to center field. Dean was the spark tonight for the Fish. He would end up with 5 RBIS on 4 hits. Lewis Brinson then doubled to bring Dean home from first. The Fish would tag the Phills for four more runs in the next inning. Brian Anderson and Neil Walker blasted back to back solo shots for the Fish. After a Jorge Alfaro and Rojas single, Dean was back up at the plate. This time he joined the home run party brining all three home. The score was now 6-0 Fish.The Fish would tag on another run in the fifth Chris Young Jersey , before dumping three more in the seventh. These came way of small ball and good hitting. The Marlins made sure to use any opportunity the Phills gave them. They turned on inside pitches, hit into gaps, and even got away with a lucky deflection. Dean brought home two of the runs with a double. Lewis Brinson would then bring Dean home on a ground out. The offense was fun to see tonight and you could actually hear the fans in attendance cheer the Fish on. Let’s hope for these kinds of games more often.
