EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Heading into their rookie seasons as NFL head coaches, Doug Pederson of the Philadelphia Eagles and Ben McAdoo of the New York Giants knew there is a lot more to it than drawing up game plans, changing personnel and make those key late-game decisions. There is the non-football stuff, too. Both men have had to deal with that, even heading into this weeks game Sunday. The Eagles and Giants both go into the NFC East rivalry game with 4-3 records, two games behind first-place Dallas with nine games to go. The chance is there to get back to the playoffs.Of course, they have to have to play better and avoid more injuries. Then there is the other stuff.Lets start with McAdoo, the 39-year-old former offensive coordinator who got the job when Tom Coughlin left after missing the playoffs for a fourth straight year.McAdoo has had to deal with Odell Beckham Jr.s tantrums; the one-game suspension of Josh Brown in the wake of a domestic abuse charge, and later his release after the kickers prolonged history of domestic violence was disclosed; and left tackle Ereck Flowers pushing incident with a reporter after a game in Green Bay.You knew going in that there were going to be dumpster fires every day and you deal with them as they come, McAdoo said. A lot of things cross your desk that you dont want to deal with, but it is part of the job and you handle it and you move on. You stay consistent, you stay in the moment, and you keep everyones best interest in mind.Pederson has had his share of problems, the most recent the arrest of receiver Josh Huff . He was charged Tuesday with possession of a handgun without a permit and having a small amount of marijuana after he was pulled over for speeding in New Jersey.Pederson spent almost 11 minutes Wednesday answering questions about Huff and the arrest instead of talking about the game with the Giants. Huff was released on Thursday. There was also Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham, who faces a misdemeanor concealed weapons charge after he was caught carrying a loaded gun at a Miami airport on Oct. 2.Its kind of like youre the father of your house. You just got to keep talking to . your kids and just keep reiterating the importance of who you represent, what you represent, your families, the Philadelphia Eagles, and you got to make smart choices, Pederson said. Its all about choices and consequences in life. If you make bad choices, youve got to suffer the consequences. So, well just continue to keep talking about it.The coaches also are being forced to be the face of the organization. Giants management has refused to talk to beat reporters about the incidents, leaving McAdoo to be the voice of the franchise, just as Pederson was this week for the Eagles. Its probably not what they expected when they decided to head into coaching.Other things to watch Sunday:SAFETY ISSUES: The Giants hoped to come out of their bye week at full health, particularly at free safety. Nat Berhe (concussion) and Darian Thompson (foot) were expected back. Berhe was still in the protocol and Thompson had a setback Wednesday. Expect former free agent Andrew Adams to make his fifth straight start.DINK AND DUNK: Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz completed 32 passes for 202 yards against Dallas, averaging 4.7 yards. Hes last in the NFL, averaging 4.97 yards per completion. The only time the Eagles threw deep against the Cowboys came when Huff caught a backward toss and fired downfield 30 yards to Jordan Matthews, who couldnt make a tough catch. They have only one offensive play for more than 30 yards in the past four games. We have to figure out and find ways to get the ball, obviously, down the field, Pederson said.LAST CARRYING THE ROCK: If the Giants offense is going to wake up, Eli Manning and the receivers are going to have to do the job. The running game is last in the NFL, averaging 70.3 yards. In the previous four games, New York has gained 78, 43, 38 and 36 yards on 70 carries. Rookie Paul Perkins may get more carries this week.COMMITTEE OF BACKS : Pederson insists Ryan Mathews is the No. 1 back and he hasnt lost confidence in him. The stats say otherwise. Darren Sproles, the 33-year-old scatback, led the Eagles with 86 yards rushing on 15 carries vs. Dallas. Mathews, who fumbled twice in the fourth quarter in the past four games, got only four carries. Rookie Wendell Smallwood had a costly fumble on his only carry in the fourth quarter. Kenjon Barner ran three times for 9 yards.TIGHT ENDS: Eagles tight ends have had career days against the Giants. Zach Ertz had nine catches for a career-high 152 yards in January. However, the Giants defense has improved this season, particularly strong safety Landon Collins. So dont be surprised if Ertz is covered. New Yorks tight end have done little. Larry Donnell fumbled early two games ago and the group has not helped much in the run game. There is always the chance New York goes extensively with four wideouts.---AP Pro Football Writer Rob Maaddi in Philadelphia contributed to this report.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Authentic Custom Rays Jersey . Evan Longoria Jersey Large . The Croatian served 21 aces and hit 42 winners against Sijsling, who double-faulted to give Cilic a 4-3 lead in the deciding set. NEW YORK -- Fans loudly chanted the names of starters in the first inning, waiting for each to acknowledge the salute. Only it was a contingent of Los Angeles Dodgers fans in the left-field corner, not the Yankee Stadium Bleacher Creatures. Its always fun when you hear that call go through everybody, Dodgers rookie Corey Seager said. Thats always exciting. It was cool.Seager singled twice and drove in a run on the former field of his childhood hero, Derek Jeter, and fellow rookie Jose De Leon won in his second big league start to help the NL West-leading Dodgers beat the AL wild-card chasing Yankees 8-2 in Mondays series opener.Los Angeles (81-62) reopened a four-game lead over second-place San Francisco, which lost to San Diego. After the game, the Dodgers saluted their traveling fans. That energy picked us up a lot, manager Dave Roberts said. We might have caught the Yankees fans off-guard a little bit.Dodgers fans unfurled a large blue-and-white LA banner over their heads in the manner of soccer supporters in the third, prompting boos from the majority of the crowd of 32,058, and they raised a second banner during the seventh-inning stretch. The group calls itself Pantone 294 -- named after the Dodgers official color -- and arrived from the West Coast on six flights, according to its website.Seager said a Roll Call isnt as effective at Dodger Stadium, known for late-arriving fans battling traffic. It doesnt always work at home, he said. They kind of stopped halfway through, but that one was loud.De Leon (2-0), a 24-year-old right-hander from Puerto Rico, beat San Diego at home on Sept. 4 in big league debut, the 15th starting pitcher used by the Dodgers this season. A Boston Red Sox fan in his youth, De Leon allowed two runs and three hits in five innings. It was electric, everything I expected, he said. I was actually a little more nervous than I was in LA. Since I grew up a Red Sox fan I really wanted to beat the Yankees.Aaron Judge dropped Chase Utleys fly ball to the right-field warning track in the second and catcher Gary Sanchez threw wildly to second base in the third, the errors leading too four unearned runs and a 6-1 lead.dddddddddddd Yasiel Puig pinch hit in the eighth and drove an opposite-field home run over the right-field short porch, and Justin Turner homered to nearly the same spot in the ninth, his 27th this season.Dodgers-Yankees is among baseballs most prestigious interleague matchups, with New York winning eight of 11 World Series meetings. The Dodgers, who left Brooklyn for Los Angeles after the 1957 season, made their only prior regular-season trip to Yankee Stadium in 2013, splitting a doubleheader.Seager remembered all the times Jeter was saluted in the Roll Call.I see it from both sides, he said. As a fan you dont like seeing the other team do it, but being out there and your team doing it is also really cool. So Im kind of stuck in the middle on that one.THAT STEALRoberts was at Yankee Stadium for the first time since the 2004 AL Championship Series at the old ballpark. With the Yankees ahead 3-0 in the series and leading Boston 4-3 in the ninth inning of Game 4 at Fenway Park, Roberts pinch ran and stole second. Bill Mueller following with a tying single off Mariano Rivera, the Red Sox won in 12 innings and went on to take the pennant. Im not well received at the airport when I make my way into New York-LaGuardia, JFK, Roberts said.PLATE ROTATIONAdrian Gonzalez was the Dodgers DH, and Andre Ethier and Turner are scheduled for DH days during the remainder of the series.HES BACKPuig has three homers in 14 at-bats since his return from the minors.TRAINERS ROOMDodgers: LHP Rich Hill, removed from Saturdays start at Miami after seven perfect innings and 89 pitches, is to start Thursdays series opener at Arizona. Roberts took Hill out for fear a blister issue on his pitching hand could recur.UP NEXTLHP Julio Urias (5-3) starts for the Dodgers on Tuesday and LHP CC Sabathia (8-12) for the Yankees. Urias, 20, is 4-0 with a 1.44 ERA in his last five games (four starts). He lasted just 2 2/3 innings in his big league debut at Citi Field in May. ' ' '
