ATLANTA -- Justin Upton is having quite a month. Nike Air Max Axis Canada . Upton homered and had three RBIs, Jason Heyward drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 5-2 on Friday night for their third straight win. With 28 RBIs in 25 games since Aug. 1, Upton considers this to be the best month of his eight-year career. Its helped give him a career-high 91 RBIs this season, three more than he had in 2011 with Arizona. "Yeah, the guys on front of me have been getting on base, and Ive been fortunate to get some hits," Upton said. "As far as run producing, its probably been the best." The Braves, winners in 10 of 14, began the night 1 1/2 games back in the NL wild-card standings, but are just 19-21 since the All-Star break. Andrelton Simmons led off the seventh against Chris Hatcher (0-2) with a bunt single and advanced to third on pinch-hitter Ramiro Penas single. Simmons scored on Heywards RBI single off Mike Dunn to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. Uptons RBI single off Sam Dyson drove in Heyward from second and Emilio Bonifacio also scored to make it 5-2 when centre fielder Marcell Ozuna misplayed the ball. It was a good example of the Braves trying to manufacture a run instead of taking their usual free-swinging, strikeout-prone approach. "Were going to have to do that if were going to win," Upton said. "Every nights not going to be a three-run homer. Were going to have to find ways to scratch runs across. We did that tonight." Jordany Valdespin tied it at 2-all in the Miami seventh with a pinch-hit homer, the seventh of his career, off reliever David Carpenter (5-3). Braves starter Ervin Santana allowed one run, five hits, four walks and struck out seven in six innings. Marlins starter Tom Koehler walked Freddie Freeman to begin the sixth and gave up Uptons 26th homer, a long shot deep into the seats in left-centre, for a 2-1 Atlanta lead. "I just got a good pitch to hit," Upton said. "In that situation I was just trying to get on base behind Freddie and squared it up." Koehler gave up two runs and four hits with three walks and six strikeouts in six innings. The Marlins have dropped three straight and five of six. Santana needed 32 pitches to finish the first inning, walking three straight batters to load the bases, but escaped the jam by striking out Garrett Jones on three pitches and retiring Marcell Ozuna on a flyout. In the sixth, Ozuna doubled into the right-field corner off Santana, scoring Casey McGehee from second to make it 1-0, but Garrett Jones was thrown out at the plate on second baseman Tommy La Stellas relay throw to catcher Evan Gattis. "When you talk about winning games this time of year, youve got to make plays," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "The team that makes plays and gets big hits wins ball games." TRAINERS ROOM Marlins: Redmond said that RHP Dan Jennings, out since Aug. 8 with a concussion, was making a rehab start Friday and could rejoin the team soon. Braves: LHP Jonny Venters, who last pitched in 2012, said that he will undergo elbow ligament replacement surgery for the third time and added that "it never crossed my mind" to retire. UP NEXT Marlins RHP Jarred Cosart (11-8) beat the Braves 6-1 on June 26 while pitching for Houston. Braves RHP Aaron Harang (10-8) is winless with a 5.18 ERA in four starts this year and 5-5 with a 5.99 in 17 career starts against the Marlins. STAYING HOT Closer Craig Kimbrel, the fourth Atlanta pitcher, earned his 40th save in 44 chances after facing the minimum in the ninth. ... Upton went 2 for 4 and is hitting.307 with 10 homers and 45 RBIs in his 52 games since the start of July. ... The Braves improved to 69-44 dating back to last season with Heyward batting leadoff. With Bernard hurt, the second-round pick has emerged.Hill ran for 152 yards during a 27-10 win at New Orleans on Sunday, his second big game. He also ran for 154 yards against Jacksonville earlier this season. An epic performance from Joe Flacco, Brady with another strong game, Hillman revels in a starters workload, Rivers keeps rolling and more in Scott Cullens 20 Points on NFL Week Six. 1. Ravens QB Joe Flacco (21-for-29, 306 YDS, 5 TD) had his way against the Buccaneers, throwing five touchdowns on his first 10 completions in the game. WR Torrey Smith (4 REC, 51 YDS, 2 TD, 5 targets) wasn’t used all that much, but a couple of scores increased his fantasy relevance. Steve Smith (5 REC, 110 YDS, 1 TD, 6 targets) continued to be the big-play threat for Flacco. 2. Patriots QB Tom Brady (27-for-37, 361 YDS, 4 TD) had his second straight productive game. It was the first time since November 3 last season that Brady threw for at least 300 yards and four touchdowns in a game. Brady’s resurrection raises the value of the targets in the passing game. Patriots WR Brandon LaFell (4 REC, 97 YDS, 2 TD, 6 targets), WR Julian Edelman(9 REC, 91 YDS, 12 targets) and TE Rob Gronkowski (7 REC, 94 YDS, 9 targets) were all over 90 yards against Buffalo. 3. Panthers QB Cam Newton (29-for-46, 284 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT; 107 rush YDS, 1 TD, 17 carries) had an outstanding game against Cincinnati, despite being hamstrung with spare parts in the backfield. Panthers RB Fozzy Whitaker (52 YDS, 1 TD, 11 touches) led the way among Carolina runners…excluding Cam. 4. Colts QB Andrew Luck (25-for-44, 370 YDS, 3 TD, 1 INT) leads the league in both passing yards (1,987) and touchdowns (17). After recording nine 300-yard passing games in the first 32 games of his NFL career, Luck has thrown for 300-plus in five of six this season. 5. Chargers QB Philip Rivers (22-for-34, 313 YDS, 3 TD) ranks third in passing yardage (1,756) and has the league’s best touchdown-to-interception ratio (15:2). WR Malcom Floyd (5 REC, 103 YDS, 1 TD, 7 targets) is recapturing some of his targets in the San Diego passing game, and it appears to be coming at the expense of second-year WR Keenan Allen, who averaged 7.0 targets per game last season and has been targeted more than seven times once in the past five games. 6. Bears QB Jay Cutler (26-for-38, 381 YDS, 1 TD) runs hot and cold but, when he’s on, the numbers are good, thanks to his receiving corps. WR Alshon Jeffery (5 REC, 136 YDs, 7 targets) and WR Brandon Marshall (6 REC, 113 YDS, 9 targets) can make a quarterback look good. 7. 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (22-for-36, 343 YDS, 3 TD; 37 rush YDS, 3 carries) was terrific against St. Louis on Monday night. It was the third time in his career that he passed for at least 300 yards in a game. The second was in the final regular season game last season and the first was in the 2013 season opener against Green Bay. He followed that Packers game by throwing for 127 yards (13-for-28) in Seattle the following week. 8. Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (116 YDS, 27 touches) didn’t score against the Jets, but he’s in a nice position for the next few weeks, at least, while Montee Ball is out. 9. Browns RB Ben Tate (78 YDS, 2 TD, 25 carries), returned to action against Pittsburgh and while he wasn’t efficient, it was, all in all, a productive day. RB Isaiah Crowell (77 YDS, 1 TD, 1 lost fumble, 11 carries) and TE Jordan Cameron (3 REC, 102 YDS, 1 TD, 5 targets) were other staples in the offence that is suddenly looking formidable under the stewardship of QB Brian Hoyer. 10. Jaguars QB Blake Bortlles (32-for-46, 336 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT; 38 rush YDS, 5 carries) put up decent numbers in a loss at Tennessee. Air Max 200 Canada. He’s more of a threat with WR Cecil Shorts (10 REC, 103 YDS, 1 lost fumble, 16 targets) back in the lineup. 11. Buccaneers QB Matt Glennon (24-for-44, 314 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT) put up adequate numbers in a blowout loss, with WR Louis Murphy (7 REC, 72 YDS, 1 TD, 9 targets) his most productive targets, even with Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans in the lineup. 12. Raiders QB Derek Carr (18-for-34, 282 YDS, 4 TD, 1 INT) was much more productive under the guidance of new head coachTony Sparano, with WR Andre Holmes (4 REC, 121 YDS, 2 TD, 8 targets) reaping the rewards of a more dynamic passing game. 13. Bills QB Kyle Orton (24-for-38, 299 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT) had good numbers in a losing effort against New England. TE Scott Chandler (6 REC, 105 YDS, 9 targets) was the No. 1 receiver while WR Robert Woods (7 REC, 72 YDS, 1 TD, 10 targets) and WR Chris Hogan (5 REC, 72 YDS, 1 TD, 6 targets) were also productive. 14. Bengals RB Gio Bernard (157 YDS, 1 TD, 22 touches), Eagles RB LeSean McCoy (154 YDS, 24 carries), Bears RB Matt Forte (157 YDS, 2 TD, 27 touches), Texans RB Arian Foster (141 YDS, 1 TD, 23 touches) and Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (146 YDS, 1 TD, 35 touches) had monster games. 15. With A.J. Green sidelined, Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (10 REC, 120 YDS, 1 TD, 14 targets) was Andy Dalton’s primary option in the receiving game. 16. Packers WR Jordy Nelson (9 REC, 107 YDS, 1 TD, 16 targets) continued to produce and is the league leader with 632 receiving yards and rookie Davante Adams (6 REC, 77 YDS, 8 targets) had a nice game against Miami. 17. Among lesser-used runners, Chargers RB Branden Oliver (124 YDS, 1 TD, 30 touches), Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (82 YDS, 17 touches), Titans RB Bishop Sankey (68 YDS, 19 touches), Jaguars RB Storm Johnson (17 YDS, 11 touches) 18. RB Timeshares: Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw (59 YDS, 1 TD, 14 touches), RB Trent Richardson (41 YDS, 1 TD, 17 carries); Lions RB Joique Bell (97 YDS, 1 TD, 20 touches) and Theo Riddick (75 YDS, 1 TD, 5 REC) were strong in the absence of Reggie Bush. 19. With Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (29 YDS, 11 touches) and Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno (10 YDs, six carries), both suffered torn ACLs, leaving Shane Vereen and Lamar Miller, respectively, to a clearer path to more touches. 20. At tight end, Jets TE Jace Amaro (10 REC, 68 YDS, 1 TD, 12 targets) and Washington TE Jordan Reed (8 REC, 92 YDS, 11 targets) had productive days.
