You spend time and you develop (talent) but for the league its a great exciting time. "We have ideas of what we want to do but it obviously changes things that you might have done," Barker said of the losses. "Thats the process were in now — trying to recover and fill holes." The Argos hope McMaster offensive lineman Matt Sewell, a first round pick in the 2013 draft who spent some time in camp with the Tennessee Titans, might be able to help their cause. A longer shot is linebacker Cory Greenwood, a Concordia product taken third overall by Toronto in the 2010 draft who is currently on the Detroit Lions injured reserve list. The six-foot-eight, 301-pound Eppele appeared in all 18 games last season. "We just had too many guys," Barker said of his Canadian offensive line talent. "We just couldnt protect all of them." Eppele is due to undergo shoulder surgery next week, a fact that was disclosed to Ottawa. "Joes a good enough player, they felt it was OK to take that risk," Barker said. Pottinger played three seasons in B.C. before joining Toronto in 2009. The six-foot-two 238 pounder, who lost his starting job to Robert McCune, had 13 tackles and 14 special teams tackles in 2013. Barker said Pottingers loss will be felt on and off the field. "Hes everything a CFL player is all about," said Barker. "Hes been as instrumental in turning this organization around as anybody in it. Im so indebted to him for what hes done since he came here." Williams, 6-2 and 282 pounds, was a B.C. Lion in 2009 before joining the Argos in 2013. NEW YORK -- Yankees President Randy Levine testified at Alex Rodriguezs grievance hearing Tuesday and denied conspiring with Major League Baseball on the 211-game suspension given to the New York third baseman last summer. On the 10th day of the hearing, which started in September, Levine was asked a series of questions by Rodriguez lawyer Joseph Tacopina, according to a person with knowledge of the proceeding. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the proceedings are confidential. The person said Levine testified for 10-15 minutes and denied having any personal gain from Rodriguezs suspension or the Yankees falling under the luxury tax threshold; and of having an agreement to receive a commission of any money the team saved because of the ban. Levine also denied discussing Rodriguezs discipline with Major League Baseball or Commissioner Bud Selig; and telling Rodriguez surgeon Dr. Bryan Kelly or anyone else that he wanted the player off the field, the person said. The person also said Levine testified he may have jokingly used the phrase "is he off the juice?" when talking with Rodriguez about other players who werent performing. Levine testified he had no exact recollection. The hearing resumed Monday before arbitrator Fredric Horowitz, who also heard the case from Sept. 30-Oct. 3 and Oct. 15-18. Howard Gans, a lawyer for MLB, said in papers filed in federal court that Horowitz will hear the case daily through Nov. 26 rather than the original plan to recess after Friday and resume Dec. 16.
