At their peak, the Pittsburgh Steelers have shown off an offence so explosive its looked capable of making them one of the NFLs elite teams. At their worst, theyve played beneath the low level of some pretty dreadful competition. A week after laying their latest egg against one of the NFLs worst teams, the Steelers get a crack at another one Monday night as they visit the Tennessee Titans. You can follow all the action LIVE on TSN1, TSN3, TSN4 and TSN5 with coverage beginning at 8:15pm et/5:15pm pt. Pittsburgh (6-4) had its best rushing day in eight years with 264 yards in a 37-19 win at Carolina in Week 3, then lost at home to Tampa Bay the following Sunday in a result that remains the Buccaneers lone victory. Ben Roethlisberger took his turn as the star in wins over Indianapolis and Baltimore to cap the Steelers 3-0 midseason homestand, throwing six touchdown passes in back-to-back weeks as Pittsburgh put up 94 points, but once again the shelf life on Pittsburghs positivity was short. The Steelers fell behind 17-0 after one quarter last Sunday against the Jets, and Roethlisbergers lone TD pass came with just 1:16 left in a 20-13 loss to a New York team that was 1-8 coming in. Its the NFL, if you dont show up ready to play your type of game, youre going to lose, wide receiver Lance Moore said. Our last game was a perfect example of that. Were hot. We came in high and mighty and a team came in and played better than us. Struggling against some of the leagues lightweights has been a somewhat alarming trend since Mike Tomlins arrival in 2007, particularly away from home. Pittsburgh has played nine road games in the second half of its schedule against teams with a sub-.300 winning percentage, and the Jets loss was its sixth in those contests. The Steelers have a minus-15 turnover differential in those games. The ability is there, its just about going out and doing it, defensive end Cam Heyward told the teams official website. We have to have our focus and mindset on the Titans this week. We cant forget what happened, but we have to move past it. We have to move in the right direction and clean up the stuff that put us in trouble this past week. Pittsburghs early hole against the Jets continued another noteworthy road trend. Since the start of last season, the Steelers have been outscored 88-26 in the first quarter away from Heinz Field. Theyve held an 85-56 edge in the first 15 minutes at home. Tomlins team has allowed an NFL-high 36 points on its opponents first offensive possession, but the Titans (2-7) have only come away with one field goal the first time theyve had the ball. Tennessee looked great in the first quarter last Sunday at Baltimore before reverting back to the form thats seen it score the leagues fewest points. The Titans had 142 yards and a 7-0 lead after 15 minutes but were held to 68 yards on 30 plays the rest of the way in a 21-7 loss. Early in the first half we did a lot of good things to kind of counteract their guys, rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger said. We just got to continue to ... play like that for 60 minutes. Mettenberger hasnt been bad in his first two starts, completing 63.2 percent of his passes with three TDs and two interceptions, but hell want to focus on getting the ball out sooner against Pittsburgh. Baltimore switched to primarily zone coverage after its banged-up secondary struggled in man, and Mettenberger was sacked five times over the final three quarters while struggling with his reads. You try to have an internal clock, that lets you know when its time, but with the defensive linemen that they have, the clock goes a lot faster, Mettenberger said. I know I need to play a lot smarter. This is a quarterback driven league and I have to play better. Mettenbergers task could be tougher without tight end Delanie Walker, who leads the team with 512 receiving yards but is questionable after being carted off against the Ravens with a concussion. Walker was cleared to practice this past week, but must be checked by an independent neurologist before he can play. The Steelers have eight sacks in two games this month but have allowed four of the five QBs theyve faced on the road to post a passer rating of at least 109.3, though the outlier also happened to be a rookie from the AFC South. Pittsburgh pressured Blake Bortles into a pair of interceptions in a Week 5 win at Jacksonville, improving to 18-2 against rookie signal-callers since Dick LeBeau returned as defensive coordinator in 2004. Opening more holes in the running game could be just as significant in boosting that record as confusing Mettenberger. The Steelers have run for just 91 yards on 42 carries in their past two games, and havent scored on the ground since Week 3. LeVeon Bell and LeGarrette Blount might find the Titans defence slightly more accommodating. Tennessee has allowed an AFC-worst 4.53 yards per carry since October, including 363 yards and four touchdowns in its last two losses. The Steelers were held to 31 yards on 15 carries as Bell missed a 16-9 Week 1 loss to the Titans last season. Boston Bruins Jerseys . Patrick Maroon scored the tiebreaking goal on a wraparound late in the second period, and the Ducks beat the Kings 2-1 on Thursday night in the prelude to the clubs landmark outdoor game this weekend. Frederik Andersen made 30 saves and Dustin Penner scored a power-play goal in the 20th victory in 23 games for the NHL-leading Ducks, who dialed down their high-octane offensive game and matched the Kings usual grit in a hard-hitting, bad-tempered meeting. Offence was scarce when the Southern California clubs warmed up for their visit to Dodger Stadium on Saturday, and the high-scoring Ducks didnt mind at all. "We can play any style," Ducks defenceman Ben Lovejoy said. "We can play with speed teams because we have that speed and skill, and we can match up with the big, physical teams like L.A. I dont think we beat them at their own game. I think we imposed the kind of game we wanted in the second and third." After a scoreless third period, Anaheim improved to 21-1-2 at Honda Center two days after its first home regulation loss. The Ducks are rolling into the first warm-weather outdoor game in NHL history with a five-point lead over Chicago in the overall standings and a 17-point margin over third-place Los Angeles in the Pacific Division. A few minor skirmishes in the third period suggested tempers will run high in the rematch -- exactly the NHLs intention in scheduling back-to-back meetings. The Kings and Ducks will hold separate workouts Friday on the new rink in the middle of the historic baseball park. "Theres nothing we see out of them that we dont already know," Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf said. "Theyre a good, strong team that plays physical hockey ... but we can play that, too." Anze Kopitar scored early in the first period and Jonathan Quick stopped 19 shots for the Kings, who have lost four straight. Los Angeles hasnt won since officials in Detroit blew the call on an obviously illegal tying goal by Niklas Kronwalll in an eventual shootout loss to the Red Wings last Saturday.dddddddddddd. "I think everybody in this room knows we can and weve got to play better," Kopitar said. "So the pressure is a little bit bigger, for sure, but were going to get through this together. ... In the third, it was more like us -- pressing, puck possession, spending time in their zone. But we came up short. Its something we have to learn from. We cant give up soft goals and easy goals." Just 3:13 into this meeting, Kopitar ended a personal 10-game goal drought when the Ducks left him alone near the net to bang home a cross-ice pass for his 14th goal. Kopitar is the only NHL player on Slovenias first Olympic hockey team, and he leads the Kings in scoring for the seventh consecutive season. Neither team mounted much offence in the first 30 minutes, but Penner hurt his former teammates by shoving home a rebound 10 seconds into another power play late in the second period. Penner scored 11 goals in parts of three seasons with the Kings before scoring 12 goals already this season for the Ducks, who re-signed him last summer. Maroon then put the Ducks ahead, forcing a bad pass by Willie Mitchell before getting the puck down low and wrapping it around for his fourth goal -- just his second since late October. "Weve got to try to take a few positives out of tonight and come back Saturday," Kings forward Trevor Lewis said. "We obviously need the points more than they do. After a loss like this, you always want to get right back after them, so its good that weve got them again in two days." Until Winnipegs 3-2 victory on Tuesday snapped the Ducks 22-game home points streak to open the season, Los Angeles was the last visiting team to win at Honda Center, taking a shootout victory Dec. 3. NOTES: The Ducks scratched forwards Daniel Winnik and Kyle Palmieri. Coach Bruce Boudreau also gave a day off to starting goalie Jonas Hiller, who acknowledged being distracted by the looming outdoor game in Tuesdays loss to Winnipeg. ... Los Angeles D Matt Greene missed his fifth straight game with an upper-body injury. ... Andersen leads the NHLs rookie goalies with 13 wins.
