CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Padres got another day to let their recovered players rest and enjoy their best stretch of the season. Jimmie Ward 49ers Jersey . With outfielder Carlos Quentin and third baseman Chase Headley back, theyre thinking it could keep going. Just not on Wednesday. Their game against the Cincinnati Reds was postponed because of rain and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Thursday. They will play a regularly scheduled game at 12:35 p.m. EDT followed by a makeup game at 6:10 p.m. Ian Kennedy (2-4) will face Johnny Cueto (3-2) in the first game. Tyson Ross (4-3) will start the second game for San Diego. The Reds hadnt decided on their starter. It was the ninth postponement in Great American Ball Parks history since 2003 and the second this season. The Reds have had eight rain delays, two postponements and one suspended game this season in Cincinnati. The Padres are enjoying the best stretch of the season. They have won a season-high four straight and have scored 26 runs in the four games. Quentin wasnt going to be in the Padres lineup on Wednesday as manager Bud Black eases him back in. Quentin was activated before the series opener on Tuesday after missing the first 39 games with a bruised left knee, injured while diving for a ball during spring training. Quentin went 3 for 18 during a minor league rehab stint and was 0 for 3 with a walk in his return. Black planned to play him in one of the games on Thursday. "Were going to build him up, but we like when hes in the lineup," Black said. "Hes got to get into baseball shape." Injuries limited Quentin to 82 games last season, when he batted .275 with 13 homers and 44 RBIs. He was an All-Star with the White Sox in 2008 and 2011. "Arguably when hes healthy and playing his game, you can make a case that hes our best offensive player," Black said. "Hes a guy that has a proven record of offensive performance. So when hes in there, we score more runs." The Padres think he will make a difference in a struggling offence. "Hes a huge piece for us," Headley said. "If we can get him in there and keep him healthy, it makes everybodys job easier. Its great to have him back." San Diegos offence ranked last in the league with a .222 average and 118 runs. The Padres are hopeful that with Quentin back and Headley finally healthy, their offence can pick up. Headley returned from the disabled list last Saturday after recovering from a strained right calf and has homered twice. Headleys solo shot in the ninth inning off a 99 mph fastball from Aroldis Chapman gave the Padres a 2-1 win in the series opener. Reliever Dale Thayer rejoined the Padres on Wednesday after missing one game on paternity leave. Thayer is 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA in 20 games. The Padres optioned right-hander Kevin Quackenbush back to Triple-A El Paso to create a spot for Thayer. Quackenbush was called up for one game to fill in while Thayer was gone. Quackenbush didnt pitch in a 2-1 win over the Reds on Tuesday night, leaving him 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA in three stints with San Diego this season. NOTES: The Padres havent won a series on the road this season. ... Major League Baseball has made a scoring change from San Diegos 4-0 loss to Washington on April 26, taking a hit away from Jayson Werth and giving Jedd Gyorko an error. That takes two earned runs away from Padres starter Andrew Cashner, lowering his ERA to 2.35. ... Manager Bryan Price said C Devin Mesoraco, on a rehab assignment recovering from a strained hamstring, will play a couple more games before the Reds will consider activating him. He began the assignment Tuesday night with Triple-A Louisville. Tarvarius Moore Jersey .The Ottawa Senators winger was relegated to a corner seat in the locker-room to allow Daniel Alfredsson to return to his regular stall one last time. Mike McGlinchey 49ers Jersey . While the pair of Spain internationals return, midfielder Xavi Hernandez will not be included in the squad after failing to recover from a muscle strain to his left leg. http://www.officialauthenticsf49ersonline.com/AUTHENTIC-FRED-WARNER-49ERS-JERSEY/ . -- Ben Bishop had a milestone game against one of the NHLs greatest goalies. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to imagine a scenario that sees Los Angeles Kings defenceman Slava Voynov back in the NHL – ever. According to Los Angeles Times reporter Nathan Fenno, who was in the courtroom today for Voynov’s preliminary hearing, it was alleged that the defenceman choked, kicked and punched his wife. Effectively, the allegation is that he laid a beating on her. Back on October 20, Voynov was suspended indefinitely with pay following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence. At that time, the Police Department of the City of Redondo Beach issued this press release indicating that a female could be heard “screaming” and “crying” and that, later that night, Voynov accompanied the alleged victim to the hospital where he was arrested on suspicion that he inflicted the harm. Disturbing Evidence of a Beating Here are some of the more disturbing allegations raised in Court today as reproduced from Fenno’s Twitter timeline: - Redondo Beach police officer: Voynovs wife had laceration over left eye, blood streaming, red marks on neck. - Officer says Voynovs wife said he struck her in the face with his fist. - Officer: Voynov pushed wife to ground multiple times, kicked her repeatedly while on ground, chocked her three times. - Officer: Voynov pushed her into flat-screen TV where she cut her face. - Officer: Voynovs wife required eight stitches to close wound above left eye. - Officer: Theres bruising, red marks, scratches on the victims neck. - At Voynovs home, the officer noted blood all over bedroom, including covering comforter and a bloody handprint on floor. - Lead prosecutor Frank Dunnick: theres evidence to suggest prior domestic violence involving Voynov. Fenno added that while he could only “catch quick glimpses of photos of the injuries to Voynovs wife” and there was “lots of blood.” Voiding of Contract, Prison & Deportation for Voynov Voynov is facing a number of legal issues. Firstly, he could be deported. In the United States, the crime of domestic violence can lead to serious immigration consequences for defendaants who are not U. Jonathan Cooper Jersey. . citizens. Under a federal U.S. law called the Immigration and Nationality Act, a non-citizen can be ordered deported if he is convicted of domestic violence. Voynov is also facing jail time. He was charged under Section 273.5 of the California Penal Code for willfully inflicting corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition upon a person. The charge can either be a felony or the less serious misdemeanor. The type of charge depends on a number of factors, including the severity of the injuries sustained and whether the defendant has a history of violence. In this case, Voynov was charged with a felony. As a result, he is facing up to four years in state jail with an additional five years if he inflicted great bodily injury. If he had been charged with a misdemeanor, he would have been facing up to one year in county jail. There is also a risk that Voynov’s contract could be voided (or terminated) by the NHL. The NHL CBA at Article 18-A.2 provides Commissioner Gary Bettman with very broad disciplinary powers when dealing with off-ice conduct that is “detrimental to or against the welfare of the League or the game of hockey”. Among the punishments the Commissioner may impose is the termination of a player’s contract. The voiding of Voynov’s contract would most certainly be challenged by Donald Fehr and the NHLPA. However, terminating Voynov’s contract would not be unreasonable if the evidence is deemed reliable. Ray Rice changed everything. Indeed, the dramatically altered landscape surrounding domestic violence may force the hand of the league. And the CBA gives Bettman the power to take action (although the NHLPA would argue there are limits to that power). Only time will tell. For now, expect the NHL to do nothing and await the disposition of the criminal proceedings. Voynov will remain suspended indefinitely. Once the criminal proceedings wrap up, the NHL will make its decision. While things look exceedingly bleak for Voynov, they could get a lot worse should the photographs featuring his wife’s injuries leak to the public.
