NFL Week 3 picks:(oh http://www.authenticsnewenglandpatriots.com/cheap-elandon-roberts-jersey , and the Browns won a game!) During a typical week, I write my weekly picks column on Thursday night/early Friday morning after the Thursday Night Football game. This week, though, things were a little different.I found myself unable to write anything on Thursday night because, well, I had to wrap my head around the fact that we once again live in a world where the Cleveland Browns are capable of winning football games. Much less than that, we live in a world where the Browns are capable of coming back from 14-point deficits to win games. I think I picked my jaw up off the floor at least half a dozen times. What a night.I’m not complaining though. Even though I’m not the world’s biggest Baker Mayfield fan (he was incredible in Thursday’s game though), it was such a joy watching that loss happen to the Jets. It couldn’t have happened to a better team. I loved seeing all the misery on Twitter from some notable Jets fans, like ESPN’s Mike Greenberg for instance. Watching that team fail never gets old.Meanwhile, congrats to the Browns fans on the victory. It was a long time coming. Party like you just won the Super Bowl. (OK, maybe don’t do that. But still, have some fun.)Time to make some Week 3 picks鈥?Home teams in caps, and all lines courtesy of OddsShark.com)Bills (+16.5) over VIKINGSAm I insane for taking the Bills against the spread over the big bad Vikings? Absolutely. One hundred percent wacko. The Bills are the worst team in the league right now. But 16.5 points????? That’s a humongous line. If any of you are ballsy enough to actually gamble on the Bills in this game, you could potentially have big money waiting for you. That being said, I can’t in good consciousness advise you to actually gamble on the 2018 Bills. Just stay away from this team.PANTHERS (-3) over BengalsThe 2-0 Bengals are suddenly without Joe Mixon, who has been responsible for 86 percent of their rushing attack so far this season. And I thought Cincinnati was overachieving even with Mixon. I like the Panthers at home in this game.Broncos (+5.5) over RAVENSThis Ravens team is hard to figure out. They obliterated Buffalo in Week 1, then were essentially a no-show in Cincinnati in Week 2. And Joe Flacco looks like he’s washed up. If they are able to beat this 2-0 Denver team, I don’t think it’s by more than five points.PS: This game doesn’t even seem worth watching. I might not even watch the highlights, and I always watch the highlights for every game. Packers (-3) over REDSKINSI think the Redskins peaked in Week 1 against a crappy Cardinals team. Last week, they only managed nine points against the Colts, who aren’t exactly known for their lights out defense. Adrian Peterson only managed 20 rushing yards.Aaron Rodgers might not be 100 percent for the Pack just yet, but he’s the most gifted QB in the game, and he seems like the safer bet.EAGLES (-7) over ColtsFour simple words: Carson Wentz is back.Giants (+6) over TEXANSSaquon Barkley is probably the most important player on my fantasy team, so I just need a really big game from him. He let me down last week in Dallas with only 28 rushing yards. Time for a big time bounce back game here.FALCONS (-3) over SaintsI’m not sold on either of these teams as playoff teams this year, even though they both have playoff-caliber rosters. Nonetheless, this could be a pretty interesting game. I’m taking the home team.DOLPHINS (-3) over RaidersAs crazy as it is to imagine the Dolphins going to 3-0 and maintaining first place in the AFC East, Jon Gruden’s Raiders are a mess. An actual quote from Gruden this week: “It’s hard to find a good pass rusher.”A few weeks ago, Gruden had arguably the league’s best pass rusher (Khalil Mack) ALREADY ON HIS TEAM. Then he traded him to Chicago, and the Raiders have been doomed ever since. Might as well just move them to Las Vegas right now.49ers (+6.5) over CHIEFSGame of the week right here. Two first-year starting QBs both with superstar potential. I’m hoping for an endless showing of offense, just a back-and-forth shootout for 60 minutes. I’m pumped.JAGUARS (-9.5) over TitansThe Titans are without Delanie Walker for the year, and they might be without Marcus Mariota this week. One of the most important gambling rules of all time: Never bet on Blaine Gabbert. It doesn’t matter what he did last week. He won’t play two good games in a row.RAMS (-7) over ChargersI see some serious blowout potential here. The Rams are the best team in the league, and the Chargers are an eternally overrated team. My prediction for this battle for LA: Rams 37, Chargers 14.Bears (-5) over CARDINALSI’m still waiting for Mitchell Trubisky to really show me something. He seems like a good kid White Ja'Whaun Bentley Jersey , but he lost major points in Green Bay two weeks ago when he straight up failed to notice a wide open Trey Burton in the end zone in the fourth quarter, which would’ve sealed the win for Chicago had he connected with him.Trubisky played a good game against Seattle last week, but he has yet to do anything that really just makes people believe in him. The Cardinals are an easy matchup this year (they’ve scored a grand total of six points through two games), so this is a prime opportunity for Trubisky to really have a great game and get some more people on his bandwagon.Cowboys (+1.5) over SEAHAWKSSorry, Russell Wilson, but you’ve been bumped from my fantasy team’s starting lineup for a first year starter (Patrick Mahomes). I hope there aren’t any hard feelings. I’ve always been a fan of yours.Patriots (-7) over LIONSThe Pats got throttled by the Jaguars last week, and Tom Brady bounces back after tough defeats better than anybody. I also think it greatly benefits New England that they are going against Matt Patricia’s team, which lost by 31 points to the Jets two weeks ago — the same Jets team that just lost to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. (Sorry, I had to.)BUCCANEERS (+1.5) over SteelersScrew it, go big or go home. I’m buying into this Fitzmagic thing. And you know what? I don’t think Jameis Winston is going to see the field at all this year. In 2018 鈥?and probably just in 2018 鈥?the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are Ryan Fitzpatrick’s team.Last week: 9-7This week: 0-1Overall: 20-12-12018 Patriots roster tracker: Take a look at New England’s 53-man roster and practice squad after cutdown weekend One of the busiest periods of the NFL calendar is slowly coming to an end. With cutdown weekend almost over, we now know what the core of the 2018 New England Patriots’ roster looks like. Let’s check it out:Quarterback (2): Tom Brady, Brian HoyerNo surprises at the quarterback position: Tom Brady and Brian Hoyer were the clear-cut top two entering the year, with rookie Danny Etling not showing enough over the summer to warrant a spot on the active roster. He was able to clear waivers, though, and get placed on the practice squad.Running back (5): James White, Rex Burkhead, Sony Michel, Jeremy Hill, James DevelinOne of the deepest positions on the roster, the running back corps appeared to be set in stone the moment Sony Michel suffered an injury in practice that allowed Jeremy Hill to see additional snaps and make the most out of them. Special teams ace Brandon Bolden has been released yesterday but could return at a later point.Wide receiver (6): Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, Cordarrelle Patterson, Amara Darboh, Chad Hansen, Matthew SlaterAfter cutdown day, wide receiver was the lightest position on the roster. New England has since added two more depth options through the waiver wire: Amara Darboh and Chad Hansen, two mid-round draft selections from 2017, were added to the team to give the Patriots additional bodies alongside the current top three, Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson.Tight end (3): Rob Gronkowski, Dwayne Allen, Jacob HollisterEven with Ryan Izzo getting moved to season-ending injured reserve earlier today, this is as solid a tight end group as any in the NFL – especially because of Rob Gronkowski. But even behind the league’s best player at the position Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey , New England is deep with Dwayne Allen a strong blocker and Jacob Hollister a high-upside receiving option.Offensive line (7): Trent Brown, Joe Thuney, David Andrews, Shaq Mason, Marcus Cannon, Ted Karras, LaAdrian WaddleWhile the top five have been set since spring practices, the players behind them had to beat out their competition to earn spots on the team. Ted Karras and LaAdrian Waddle did just that, while two more linemen – Cole Croston and James Ferentz – have been added to the practice squad after getting released yesterday.Defensive tackle (4): Malcom Brown, Danny Shelton, Lawrence Guy, Adam ButlerDespite the release of former third-round draft pick Vincent Valentine, who joined New England’s practice squad earlier today, the Patriots have plenty of depth at the defensive tackle spot: Malcom Brown and Danny Shelton are the big run stuffers in the middle, with Adam Butler primarily a pass rusher. Lawrence Guy projects to be more of a versatile wild card.Defensive edge (6): Trey Flowers, Adrian Clayborn, Deatrich Wise Jr., Derek Rivers, Keionta Davis, Geneo GrissomThe defensive edge might be the most improved position group on New England’s roster when compared to the 2017 season: Adrian Clayborn, Derek Rivers and Keionta Davis were all not on the (active) team one year ago but project to play prominent snaps alongside Trey Flowers and Deatrich Wise Jr. in 2018. The Patriots keeping Geneo Grissom around behind the top six is a minor surprise, but the former third-round draft pick has looked solid this summer.Linebacker (5): Dont’a Hightower, Kyle Van Noy, Ja’Whaun Bentley, Elandon Roberts, Nicholas GrigsbyRookie Ja’Whaun Bentley being one of the top performers during the preseason is encouraging news for a linebacker corps that looks similar to the one the Patriots fielded last year. Getting Dont’a Hightower back makes the whole group better, and Bentley’s emergence could give it another dimension when it comes to depth and versatility.Cornerback (7): Stephon Gilmore, Eric Rowe, Jonathan Jones, Jason McCourty, Duke Dawson, J.C. Jackson, Keion CrossenOne of the deepest position groups on the team Authentic Jeremy Hill Jersey , the Patriots opted to keep seven cornerbacks around after the standout performances of rookies J.C. Jackson and Keion Crossen. The two will provide valuable depth behind starting options Stephon Gilmore and Eric Rowe.Safety (5): Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung, Duron Harmon, Brandon King, Nate EbnerWith Jordan Richards now playing for the Atlanta Falcons, Jason McCourty could potentially fill his role as the fourth safety behind the starting trio of Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung and Duron Harmon. King, who is listed as a linebacker but wears a defensive back’s number, and Ebner will meanwhile play primarily on special teams.Specialists (3): Stephen Gostkowski, Ryan Allen, Joe CardonaWith rookie punter Corey Bojorquez unable to challenge Ryan Allen during preseason and now with the Buffalo Bills, the Patriots elected to keep the same three specialists for another year. Stephen Gostkowski, Ryan Allen and Joe Cardona have worked together since 2015.Practice squad (8): Danny Etling, Vincent Valentine, Ralph Webb, Riley McCarron, Jomal Wiltz, Cole Croston, James Ferentz, Trent HarrisNew England officially filled eight of its ten available practice squad spots today, using only players that have spent the entire summer with the Patriots. One of the two remaining open spots is expected to be filled by linebacker Harvey Langi further down the line.Reserve/suspended (1): Julian EdelmanEdelman will start the season on the sidelines and return after the Patriots’ week four game to further solidify a wide receiver position in flux.Injured reserve (7): Isaiah Wynn, Christian Sam, Ulrick John, Darren Andrews, Cody Hollister, Braxton Berrios, Ryan Izzo, Will TyeWhile Ryan Izzo was on the initial 53-man team yesterday, he has been placed on injured reserve earlier today. Because the move happened before today’s 4:00 p.m. ET deadline, the rookie – just like the other players on injured reserve – is not eligible to return off the list later this season.
