TORONTO, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Mayor-elect of Toronto John Tory is ambitious with the determination to turn the city whose image had been tarnished by years of roller-coaster city hall drama as delivered by the incumbent Rob Ford into a paradigm of virtue.


Tory, a 60-year-old moderate conservative politician and adviser from Ontario, won the mayoral election Monday night after a 10-month campaign. He will take office on Dec. 1. and become mayor of Toronto, a city with a population of 2.6 million, which is also Canada's most populous city and financial hub.

Currently, there are several major biomass and pulp plantprojects in Finland that still await final go-ahead by theinvestors, who are pinning their hope on the expansion of theforest sector.


Contributing 20 percent of the Finnish GDP, the forest industryis playing a key role in the economic strategy of the Finnishgovernment. The government has planned to increase the use offorest by 30 percent by 2030.


Talking on national broadcaster Yle late Sunday, Lintila said hestill did not believe the committee's view would emerge as thefinal EU stand.
