COLUMBUS http://www.officialsharks.com/authentic-adidas-brent-burns-jersey , Ohio (AP) Hours after the trade deadline, the Columbus Blue Jackets had the kind of first-period offensive explosion they’ve been missing this season. The Blue Jackets scored four times in the opening period and went on to beat the Washington Capitals 5-1 on Monday night. One of the goals in that flurry came from Mark Letestu, who was acquired in a trade on Sunday.”When you come over at the deadline, you want to contribute right away,” said Letestu, who previously played four seasons for the Blue Jackets in 2011-15. ”That’s the way to earn the respect of some of the guys in the room.”Seth Jones and Cam Atkinson each had a goal and two assists as Columbus won its second game in three days and the first in four tries against the Capitals this season. Artemi Panarin had a goal and an assist , and Sonny Milano – who missed 18 games with an injury – also tallied, his first since Dec. 29.Sergei Bobrovsky had 25 saves for the Blue Jackets, who held onto the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with a knot of teams still in contention. The Capitals dropped to second place behind Philadelphia in the Metropolitan Division.”They got pucks to the net Julien Gauthier Jersey Womens ,” Washington coach Barry Trotz said. ”They were winning all the puck races, the battles. We didn’t give ourselves a chance in the first because we didn’t match their enthusiasm.”Alex Ovechkin got his league-leading 39th goal for Washington. Braden Holtby had 12 saves for the Capitals in the first period, and Philipp Grubauer had 18 in the last two.In the opening period, 14 seconds after Washington’s Dmitri Orlov went to the penalty box for holding, Jones backhanded a pass to Panarin, who rifled a shot from the left circle for his team-leading 18th goal of the season. The Capitals took about 1 1/2 minutes to even it, with Ovechkin scoring a power-play goal from the left circle. Fifty-six seconds later, Alexander Wennberg centered up a shot for Milano, who delivered a spinning backhander from the slot to put Columbus up 2-1.”I don’t think many guys on our team could score that goal that he scored Womens Evander Kane Jersey ,” Columbus coach John Tortorella said.Letestu made it 3-1 with 5:28 left in the period when he buried a puck that Matt Calvert had shoveled out from behind the goal line. Jones went up over Holtby’s shoulder with a power-play goal from the point late in the period to give the Blue Jackets a three-goal lead at the first intermission.Atkinson capped the scoring for Columbus with a short-handed, empty-net goal late in the third period.Former Pittsburgh Penguin Ian Cole, acquired by Columbus from Ottawa on Monday, skated in the third defensive pairing with David Savard, and Tortorella praised his hustle and communication.”The bench was more alive,” Tortorella said. ”I think some guys relaxed after the deadline. (AP) — The only role the New Jersey Devils are likely going to have in the playoffs this season is being a spoiler, something the Carolina Hurricanes discovered.Marcus Johansson scored twice, a battered Keith Kinkaid made 32 saves and the Devils prevented the Hurricanes from moving into a playoff spot with a 3-2 victory Sunday.“In the end, it’s the win that counts,” said center Nico Hischier, who had assists on all three goals. “Everyone who is in the lineup has energy and wants to play well and wants to battle hard. Today everybody was ready to play and just play the game plan and in the end we earned the win.”Pavel Zacha also scored as the Devils snapped the Hurricanes’ three-game winning streak and handed them their fifth loss (13-5-1) in 19 games.Kinkaid certainly was the difference, stopping 23 of 25 shots over the final 40 minutes.“It’s never going to be easy but definitely a huge game for me,” said Kinkaid, who had lost six of his last seven decisions. “I felt really sharp and guys did a good job battling even when there was no second chances. If there was a second chance Joe Thornton Jersey , I just had to battle to give us the extra save. We gave a good effort, everyone was hustling back and not giving them easy outlets.”Dougie Hamilton and Teuvo Teravainen scored for Carolina, and Petr Mrazek made 18 saves. The Hurricanes have missed the playoffs the last nine seasons. The Hurricanes would have moved into the second wild-card spot ahead of idle Pittsburgh with a win.“Right now there is a sour taste because this game; we should have won that game,” Hurricanescoach Rod Brind’Amour said. “We needed it and they don’t, so that frustrates me.”The Devils are 13 points out of a playoff spot with 27 games to go.This was a tough game for Kinkaid in more ways than stopping shots. He took a stick in the face from Jordan Martinook with 7:23 left in the second period, was bowled over by Justin Williams later in the period and was knocked over again in the third when Nino Niederreiter interfered with Devils defenseman Damon Severson. Not only was Niederreiter penalized, the call nullified what would have been a tying goal by Sebastian Aho with 12:54 left.“It kept me engaged,” Kinkaid said. “I don’t mind the physicality as long as it doesn’t interfere with me stopping the puck.”Aho said the Hurricanes can’t dwell on this one.“This is one game,” he said. “We just keep playing the same way we played lately we can get to the playoffs.”Zacha and Johansson gave the Devils a 2-0 first-period lead.Hamilton cut the gap to 2-1 in the second Joonas Donskoi Jersey , but Johansson restored the two-goal margin at 15:56 of the third period after being set up by Jesper Bratt. NASHVILLE Custom Chicago Blackhawks Jerseys , Tenn. (AP) Yes, Predators forward Filip Forsberg has watched the video of his jaw-dropping goal against Colorado a couple times, and even he agrees putting the puck through not only his legs but a defender’s with a dangle ranks as his most creative yet.”I had some opportunities, but I haven’t finished any of them off,” Forsberg said. ”But it was good.”The Colorado Avalanche showed that they can give Nashville fits with their speed and too-young-to-know-better attitude with the youngest roster this postseason. Having a chance in this first-round Western Conference series against the NHL’s Presidents’ Trophy winners will mean figuring out a way to slow down the Predators’ top scorer.Forsberg’s two goals in the third period not only rallied Nashville to a 5-2 win in Game 1 , the forward is averaging more than a point per game for his career against Colorado. Forsberg now has 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists) and five game-winning goals in 21 games. He also outscored Colorado’s top line as Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen each had assists setting up the Avs’ opening goal.Coach Jared Bednar said he thought his Avalanche, playing without top defenseman Erik Johnson (knee injury), did a nice job on Forsberg most of the game. Sam Girard played 22 minutes, 7 seconds in his postseason debut against the team that drafted him.”He uses his skill and beats a guy one-on-one,” Bednar said of Forsberg. ”The go-ahead goal at 3-2 was a lucky bounce. They shot it wide, and he got to the right spot on the ice and hit maybe his stick and a shin pad. He just goes to the hard areas.”The Avalanche are catching Forsberg at a bad time. The 23-year-old forward from Ostervala, Sweden www.officialavalanche.com , now has 32 points in his last 31 games after leading the balanced Predators with 64 points in the regular season. The Predators have a chance Saturday in Game 2 at something they haven’t managed yet as a franchise: Taking a 2-0 series lead in their own building.”We’ve got to be better to get this done,” Forsberg said. Some things to watch Saturday:—Devils at Lightning, Tampa Bay leads 1-0 (3 p.m EDT, NBC/CBNBC)The Lightning look and sound like a team rejuvenated by playing meaningful games again. The Atlantic Division champions spent the final three weeks of the regular season essentially biding time while awaiting the start of the playoffs. Captain Steven Stamkos said it was important to re-establish an edge in the series opener, and now the top seed in the Eastern Conference can take a commanding lead on the underdog Devils.”There’s a wealth of experience in this room, with guys that have been in this situation,” Stamkos said. ”I think you could tell, once the puck dropped, that we were very determined to set the tone and play the right way.”About half of New Jersey’s roster entered this series with no playoff experience. Coach John Hynes expects that to be less of a factor in Game 2.”I don’t really want to get into what the exact message with our team was, but it (basically) was don’t get too high, don’t get too low,” Hynes said. ”We have to make sure we understand the areas we’ve got to be better at, and I think mentally make sure that we’re ready to play a certain way.”—Maple Leafs at Bruins Colorado Avalanche T-Shirts Authentic , Boston leads 1-0 (8 p.m. EDT, NBC)The Bruins may be without forward Tommy Wingels, who did not skate Friday after taking a hit from Toronto forward Nazem Kadri. Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said Wingels was being evaluated by doctors and lists him as questionable as the Bruins try to take a 2-0 lead.If Wingels can’t play, a possible replacement could be rookie forward Ryan Donato. Cassidy said the former Harvard star could make his postseason debut Saturday. Donato skated with Noel Acciari and David Backes in practice. Cassidy said they have options with Brian Gionta as a right wing and Danton Heinen, who can slide over.”I think Ryan played really well when he was here for his 12 games,” said Cassidy. ”We plan on using Ryan, just want to pick the right time.”The Maple Leafs know they have to play better on special teams after giving up three power-play goals. They also spent Friday waiting to learn what punishment the NHL would give Kadri.”I don’t know what they’re going to do so might as well get prepared,” Toronto coach Mike Babcock said.—Sharks at Ducks, San Jose leads 1-0 (10:30 p.m. EDT, NBCSN)The Ducks looked largely lifeless as they gave away their home-ice advantage by failing to maintain the momentum from their impressive finish to the regular season. This is a familiar pattern for the veteran Ducks, who have lost Game 1 at home in four of their last five playoff series over the past three seasons. They won two of those series.Perhaps Evander Kane’s gritty two-goal performance in his playoff debut will get the Ducks’ attention, reminding them that they can’t play into the Sharks’ hands by skating on the perimeter of the ice and failing to generate consistent traffic in front of Martin Jones.Or maybe the Sharks are hitting their stride after losing five of their final six games in the regular season. San Jose was better on both ends to win the opener 3-0 .”They played how you’re supposed to play in the playoffs,” Anaheim forward Andrew Cogliano said of the Sharks. ”They played patient and played the right way. When you get chances Colorado Avalanche Hoodies Authentic , you have to score on them. You just execute the game plan. They did that. It seemed like we were stuck in the regular season and trying to make plays in the neutral zone, or turning the pucks over.”San Jose coach Peter DeBoer cautioned against getting excited about seeing Sharks center Joe Thornton on the ice in pregame warmups. Thornton has not played since Jan. 25 because of an injured right knee. DeBoer said the 38-year-old veteran is improving or wouldn’t be on the ice.”It’s not gamesmanship,” DeBoer said. ”He wants to be around the group, and he’s getting closer.”—AP Sports Writers Fred Goodall and Greg Beacham contributed to this report.— All eyes will be on Calgary Flames morning skate Friday to see if Johnny Gaudreau appears. The Flames star winger was levelled by Boston defensemen Charlie McAvoy in the third period of Calgary’s 5-2 home ice win on Wednesday. The winger took part in the ensuing power play but then went to the dressing room and didn’t emerge for the rest of the game.Article continues below ...The Flames did not practice on Thursday and will host the Nashville Predators on Friday.Flames general manager Brad Treliving relayed a message to reporters in Calgary on Thursday that Gaudreau was “fine.”The concussion spotter watching Thursday night wasn’t so sure after watching McAvoy send the speedster flying after Gaudreau was stopped on a deke attempt.“(Flames trainer Kent Kobelka) comes down and says, ‘Johnny’s gotta go. The spotters have called for him.’ That’s all I know,” Flames head coach Bill Peters said after the game. “Hopefully it’s nothing. Hopefully, it’s minor. But we’ll see.”Gaudreau scored his 100th NHL goal in the game and is off to a fast start with six goals and three assists in six games. The Flames have started fast as well, bringing a 4-2 record into Friday.Nashville is off to a slightly better start at 5-1. Their only defeat was at the hands of Calgary, a 3-0 final in Tennessee on Oct. 9.Nashville hasn’t played since Tuesday when they downed the Minnesota Wild at home 4-2. They flew to Alberta on Thursday afternoon. The Predators will face Calgary and immediately head to the airport for the brief flight north to Edmonton, where they will face Connor McDavid and the Oilers on Saturday. No problem, says Predators forward Ryan Hartman.“That’s part of the job,” he told nhl.com. “There’s plenty of other jobs that people do in life where they’re not getting much sleep. It’s just part of it.”With the back-to-back it’s likely the Predators will put Pekka Rinne in goal in Calgary and go with his backup Juuse Saros in Edmonton. That’s what they did on 11 occasions last season.Nashville has nine back-to-backs on their schedule in 2018-19.“Just because we have the backup in doesn’t mean we can’t win,” defensemen Yannick Webber told nhl.com. “Juuse gives us a chance to win every game he plays. We’ve seen it already this year Colorado Avalanche Hats Authentic , too, and we have a lot of confidence in him. It’s great to have that insurance back there.”If Gaudreau is not in the lineup for Calgary on Friday, Calgary will hope for another strong outing from second-line winger, Michael Frolik, to fill the void. Frolik returned from being a healthy scratch on Wednesday and scored twice against Boston.“I didn’t have the start I was looking for, but it’s a long season,” he told reporters. “I just try to work hard in practice, get better every day and hopefully it’s going to turn around.“Tonight was a good start. Hopefully I can keep going.”The Predators are led in the early going by Filip Forsberg’s four goals and two assists through six games. Ryan Johansen has one goal and five helpers.
ARLINGTON Colton Sissons Jersey , Va. So now it’s good.”The eye injury lingered for Holtby after he took a high stick to the face through his mask from Columbus forward Cam Atkinson on Saturday . Holtby left that game early and wasn’t able to play Monday against St. Louis or Tuesday against Nashville.“It was one of those things where you don’t really know what it’s going to be like in a game,” Holtby said. “There was a bit of doubt what was going to be like. It wasn’t close enough to 100 percent where it felt comfortable it was for the betterment of the team.”Backup Pheonix Copley allowed 11 goals on 66 shots in regulation losses to the Blues and Predators. The Capitals have lost three in a row.Coach Todd Reirden said he was confident about Holtby’s status and the team wouldn’t call up another goalie for the game against the Islanders. Copley is expected to back up Holtby, the 2016 Vezina Trophy winner who won all 16 games for Washington in the playoffs last year on the way to the Stanley Cup.“It’s been a little bit of touch and go,” Reirden said. “Just definitely happy. Any time you can get your No. 1 goalie in there, that’s great for us.” NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Petr Mrazek wasn’t aware until earlier in the day how well he’s played against the Nashville Predators. Nashville defenseman Anthony Bitetto was caught well up ice, leading to a breakaway for Witkowski, who beat Saros with a backhand on the Red Wings’ first shot.”Honestly I kind of blacked out a little bit,” Witkowski said of his rare breakaway opportunity. ”I just got the puck on my backhand and shot it. I got it past his blocker. It was crazy. It was cool, though.”Detroit doubled its advantage midway through the first when Nyquist re-directed Nick Jensen’s shot between Saros’ legs for his 16th.The Red Wings blocked 10 Predators shots in the game’s first 11 minutes and finished with 26 for the game.”They blocked a lot of shots,” Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. ”We hit the post a few times. We just couldn’t seem to get it to bounce our way offensively. That seems to be a common theme right now. When you’re not scoring goals Philipp Grubauer Jersey Womens , it becomes difficult to win.”Nashville had three power-play opportunities in the first 40 minutes, but managed just one shot on goal during that stretch. The Orioles won the AL East and reached the Championship Series in 2014 before earning a wild-card berth in 2016.Following a 75-87 finish last year, Baltimore struggled from outset this season. In July, Duquette tore apart the roster by swapping Machado, Zach Britton, Jonathan Schoop and several other veterans for 15 minor league prospects and international signing bonus slot money.Duquette’s tenure in Baltimore featured the crafty signing of free agents Nelson Cruz and Mark Trumbo, both of whom led the majors in home runs with the Orioles. (AP) — Another day, another big game for San Jose defenseman Erik Karlsson.Evander Kane and Joonas Donskoi each scored two goals, Karlsson had three assists again and the Sharks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 7-2 on Tuesday night.Karlsson has at least one assist in 14 consecutive appearances. He has 25 points (one goal, 24 assists) during that span, and three assists in each of his last two games.“To be honest, he’s not really shocking many of us,” Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon said. “We’re lucky enough to see him every day at the practice rink. Just a special, special player.”Marcus Sorensen, Brent Burns and Joe Thornton also scored for San Jose, which has won four straight and six of seven — totaling 36 goals during that stretch. The Sharks are 11-2-2 over their last 15 games.“This is the type of team that we know we can be, and it’s up to us to do it on a consistent basis,” Kane said.Karlsson has played in 14 of San Jose’s last 16 games. The two-time Norris Trophy winner was issued a two-game suspension for hitting Los Angeles Kings forward Austin Wagner in the head on Dec. 22.Acquired from Ottawa in an offseason trade, Karlsson is the fifth defenseman in NHL history with at least one assist in 14 consecutive appearances.“He’s just a world-class player,” Sharks assistant Steve Spott said after head coach Peter DeBoer missed the game because he was ill.“He’s as good on our end as he is in the offensive zone. What a lot of people don’t see is how vocal he is on the bench and in our locker room, too. You could tell why he’s been a captain in Ottawa, and he’s brought that leadership here. You can see his game going to the next level offensively and defensively.”Alex Chiasson and Milan Lucic scored for Edmonton Matt Hendricks Jersey Womens , which has lost eight of 10 after a 5-0-1 surge.Kane has five goals in his last four games, and fortuitous bounces figured in his 15th and 16th of the season. He scored the first goal of the night at 6:37 of the first period when his shot bounced off the back of defenseman Caleb Jones’ skate and past goalie Cam Talbot. Later, a pass by Burns ricocheted off Kane’s skate and into the net, giving San Jose a 4-1 lead at 6:32 of the second.“You don’t want to rely on bounces,” Oilers defenseman Adam Larsson said. “They were all over us. They made it hard for us. We have to be a lot better in certain areas.”Sorensen scored his eighth goal on a penalty shot. Aaron Dell made 20 saves for San Jose.Mikko Koskinen gave up three goals on 19 shots after replacing Talbot midway through the second period. Talbot allowed four goals and turned back 17 shots.“There were some strange goals, maybe three or four deflections. But still, when your best players are minus, it’s tough to win,” Oilers coach Ken Hitchcock said.“That’s two games in a row they’ve owned us in front of the net, in the slot, and they knocked us out of the box. That’s a damn good team. They owned us in what I call critical ice; the areas you score in. We had our chances and they got sticks on the puck or got deflections. They played better than we did in those critical zones.”NOTES: San Jose leads the season series 2-1. The Sharks have outscored Edmonton 14-6 in the last two meetings. … Donskoi has scored seven of his 13 goals in his last six games. … Oilers C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins played his 500th career game. … With an assist on Chiasson’s goal, Connor McDavid has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) over his last eight games. … The Sharks are one win shy of 1,000 in franchise history.UP NEXTOilers: Host the Florida Panthers on Thursday.Sharks: At the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. PITTSBURGH (AP) — It wasn’t the hastily arranged private plane ride from Miami to Pittsburgh. Or the police escort from the airport to PPG Paints Arena. It wasn’t the sight of a black-and-gold jersey with his name on the back hanging in the Pittsburgh Penguins‘ locker room. It wasn’t even racing to the bench and jumping over the wall and onto the ice with his new teammates without exchanging so much as an introductory handshake. No, Jared McCann’s “whoa” moment from the most exhilarating and surreal weekend of his professional life came Sunday, when the newly acquired forward arrived at Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby’s house to watch the Super Bowl with the rest of the gang.“There’s like an area to the side there Eric Fehr Jersey Womens , and it’s Hart Trophy, Hart Trophy, Hart Trophy,” McCann said, referring to Crosby’s three NHL MVP awards.Welcome to Pittsburgh, where the climate isn’t the only thing that’s a shock to the system. On Friday morning, McCann and Nick Bjugstad thought they were part of the long-term plans for the Florida Panthers. By Sunday night, they were hanging out in the home of one of the game’s biggest stars while playing for a team where anything less than a Stanley Cup parade through downtown in mid-June is considered a disappointment. No pressure or anything.“As soon as I walked in the rink here, they have the (championships) banners hanging everywhere,” McCann said. “It’s like: ‘You know what? We win here.’ You get that feeling. You just have confidence. You know you have guys that are going to show up every night and play well, and I want to be a positive influence for this team.”The Penguins are counting on that from both the 22-year-old McCann and the 26-year-old Bjugstad, brought over in a trade with Florida for veteran forwards Riley Sheahan, Derick Brassard and three 2019 draft picks. The early returns have been promising. Both players hardly looked overwhelmed while playing a back-to-back against Ottawa and Toronto in their first 27 hours with their new club. Bjugstad joined the second line and picked up an assist in a victory over the Senators while McCann played solidly centering the third line between forwards Tanner Pearson and Patric Hornqvist.“I thought they handled it great coming into a new dressing room 10 minutes before the game, getting thrown in there right into a game, playing some pretty good minutes, too Greg Pateryn Jersey Womens ,” Crosby said. “There’s a lot to be said about that. Sometimes that’s the best way, get thrown into it like that.”McCann credited Hornqvist for helping put him in the right spots on the ice over the weekend while the 6-foot-6 Bjugstad tried not to overdo it while centering the second line in place of injured Evgeni Malkin.“It’s almost better not having time to think,” Bjugstad said. That came on Monday when they went through their first practice in Pittsburgh. If Bjugstad wasn’t getting pulled away for a private moment with assistant coach Mark Recchi, then McCann was peppering anyone who would listen with questions. While they want to catch up quickly for a team that heads into Tuesday’s game against Carolina tied with Washington for second in the Metropolitan Division with 30 games to go, they also have the benefit of time. Neither player is a rental. Bjugstad is signed through 2021 while McCann’s contract runs through the end of the 2019-20 season.Coach Mike Sullivan still hasn’t settled on who will play where once Malkin — who is day to day with an upper-body injury — returns. Bjugstad could be effective as a third-line center, a spot the Penguins have been struggling to fill since Nick Bonino left following the team’s second straight Stanley Cup in 2017.Bjugstad also has size (6-foot-6) and a skillset that includes a 20-goal season, making him a candidate to find a spot in the top six. McCann, meanwhile, is an effective penalty killer who believes he is prepared for whatever the Penguins might throw his way. He already is taking pointers from 42-year-old Matt Cullen, who had made a career out of finding ways to do all the little things coaches love. It’s not a bad blueprint to follow.“I feel like this is a great opportunity for me to become the player I know I can be,” McCann said.First things first, however. McCann acknowledged he might have to stop at a shopping mall to pick up some pants. Seems he was in such a rush to get to Pittsburgh he mostly packed shorts for the trip north, not exactly ideal in a city where the sun is more rumor than fact between November and May. If that’s his lone misstep after the craziness surrounding his arrival, he’ll take it.“I had a great time in Florida,” McCann said. “But I feel like this is the next stepping stone in my career.”
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be undergoing a massive change in the offseason Will Harris Jersey , according to head coach Mike Tomlin.Pittsburgh stood pretty at 7-2-1, but they managed to lose four of their final six games - missing the playoffs for the first time in five years. They committed far too many late-game blunders in those four losses. And eve though 9-6-1 is usually a good enough record to get into the playoffs, that wasn't the case for Pittsburgh in 2018. They were one game shy of winning the AFC North. This was a drama-filled season for the Steelers, who had to deal Le'Veon Bell's year-long absence. On top of that, wide receiver Antonio Brown stirred things up on social media, with reporters, on the sidelines and in the locker room. He was benched for the team's Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals after skipping practice and team meetings. That whole saga reportedly took place because Brown got into an argument with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger during practice. No. 84 apparently got fed up with his quarterback and threw a football in the direction of Roethlisberger. The latter has since stated that Brown didn't respond to any of his texts or phone calls. The Steelers might have no choice but to simply trade away Brown and rid themselves of the drama. There are more than enough talents to work around in JuJu Smith-Schuster, Vance McDonald, James Conner and James Washington. They can easily succeed without him. Now, here's a look at seven teams who should trade for Brown, seven that should consider it and seven that need to stay away at all costs. Brandon Nimmo began the game with an inside-the-park home run. Turned out he was just getting started.
Nimmo homered twice during a huge night at the plate, and the New York Mets finally gave Jacob deGrom some run support Monday in a 12-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
”It took a funny bounce (off the wall), so something was working my way for that first at-bat http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-austin-bryant-jersey ,” Nimmo said. ”That was pretty cool and a great way to start it off. Just kind of loosened things up after that.”
Wilmer Flores and Devin Mesoraco also went deep for New York, which won its third straight following a prolonged slide. Nimmo had four hits and set a career high with four RBIs – one night after his go-ahead, two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning staved off defeat for the Mets and rallied them to a win at Arizona.
”I think everybody knew he was capable of playing at an elite level and that is pretty elite,” New York manager Mickey Callaway said. ”He goes out there and plays the game right every single day. He brings energy and it’s paying off for him.”
After pitching in terrible luck for weeks as New York’s hitters slumped, deGrom (5-2) got some help from his teammates at last. He allowed two runs – one earned – in eight innings to snap a two-game skid and win for the first time in six outings since May 18 against the Diamondbacks.
On the eve of his 30th birthday, the right-hander struck out seven, walked one and lowered his major league-leading ERA to 1.51. He improved to 4-0 with a 1.01 ERA in six career starts against Colorado.
The 12 runs the Mets scored were more than they managed in deGrom’s previous eight starts combined. He had given up only five earned runs in his last five games – without a single win to show for it.
”I think he’s proven over the last two years that he’s in the conversation as one of the best pitchers in baseball,” Rockies manager Bud Black said.
It was the eighth home loss in a row for the Rockies, who have permitted at least seven runs in all those games. Black was ejected in the fourth for arguing a call by first base umpire Bill Welke.
Tyler Anderson (4-2) went 5 1/3 innings for Colorado, yielding three runs and seven hits. And it was another rough outing collectively for the bullpen. Four relievers were tagged for nine runs in 4 2/3 innings.
”We’re going to get out of this funk,” said Jake McGee, who gave up Mesoraco’s homer. ”For how close our clubhouse is, I know we’re going to get out of it. And once we get out of it Rock Ya-Sin Jersey , we’re going to be stronger than we were before.”
Playing in front of family and friends from his Wyoming hometown, Nimmo got the game off to a rousing start. He lofted a deep drive that hit off the right-center field wall and rolled away from Carlos Gonzalez. By the time the right fielder chased it down, Nimmo had charged past third base and went into home standing up, well ahead of a weak throw.
”I haven’t done that before,” he said. ”That was fun.”
Nimmo became the third Mets player to lead off a game with an inside-the-park home run and first since Angel Pagan on Aug. 23, 2009, against Philadelphia. The previous New York player with an inside-the-park homer was Ruben Tejada on Sept. 2, 2015, also against the Phillies.
Nimmo’s second home run of the night came in the seventh off Harrison Musgrave and went over the center-field fence, allowing him to round the bases at a more conventional pace.
The Mets added six runs in the ninth on a pair of bases-loaded walks by reliever Jeff Hoffman, Amed Rosario’s two-run double and Nimmo’s two-run single.
TOUGH UMP
Plate umpire Tony Randazzo endured a painful night, twice getting struck by foul balls, but he saw it through. He was hit on his left hand by a foul tip off the bat of Nolan Arenado in the third inning but had team trainers wrap some protective tape around his hand and went back to work. In the sixth http://www.coltscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-ben-banogu-jersey , a foul ball off the bat of Michael Conforto struck him at the base of his neck just above his protective breastplate. Clearly in pain, Randazzo was tended to again by trainers but managed to shake it off after a few minutes and stay in the game.

He has missed four of the last five starts, and Callaway said Bruce will be re-evaluated in the next day or two. He’s expected to do some longer tosses, 75 to 80 feet, as part of his ongoing rehab effort.
Rockies: RHP Carlos Estevez faced hitters for the first time since going on the DL with a strain in his pitching elbow near the end of spring training. AUTO RACING
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Johnny Sauter wanted to win this race, maybe as badly as any other.
Sauter won the season-opening NASCAR Truck Series race and dedicated it to crew chief Joe Shear Jr., whose wife died unexpectedly in late December.
Sauter used a big run to pass David Gilliland for the lead with eight laps to go and then held off Justin Haley, Joe Nemechek, Ben Rhodes and Scott Lagasse Jr. None of those chasers provided much of a challenge down the stretch.
It was Sauter’s 18th victory in 222 starts in the Truck Series. He also won at Daytona in 2013.
But this one was for Shear, who said coming to Daytona ”kept me sane.”

MIAMI (AP) – Miami-Dade County is suing former Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria and the new ownership group led by Derek Jeter seeking money from the $1.2 billion sale of the team.
The suit contends a 2009 agreement calls for the county and city of Miami to receive a share of profits from any sale of the team. The deal was related to an agreement to finance the team’s ballpark that opened in 2012 and was built mostly with taxpayer money.
Loria bought the Marlins for $158.5 million in 2002 and sold the team to Jeter’s group last fall. He claimed a loss on the deal, which the county describes as ”fuzzy math.”
PHOENIX (AP) – Pitchers Dan Straily of Miami and Brandon Maurer of Kansas City lost their salary arbitration cases, leaving players with an 11-10 lead with only Cincinnati second baseman Scooter Gennett awaiting a decision.
The 22 hearings are the most since players went 14-10 in 1990. Just five players settled among the 27 players who swapped proposed salaries with their teams last month.
Straily was awarded $3,375,000 instead of his $3.55 million request by arbitrators James Darby Miles Boykin Jersey , Sylvia Skratek and Edna Francis, who heard the case Thursday. Straily was eligible for the first time after earning $552,100 last year.
Maurer will earn $2.95 million instead of his $3.5 million request in a decision by Matt Goldberg, Dan Brent and Jeanne Wood. The 27-year-old right-hander made $1.9 million in 2017.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The Panthers have reinstated interim general manager Marty Hurney after an NFL investigation found no wrongdoing into charges of harassment by his ex-wife.
Hurney had been on a paid leave of absence during Because the National Football League’s draft is such a long process that involves hundreds of young players, many believe that you cant go wrong when you choose talent in the first round. However http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/cheap-authentic-darnell-savage-jr.-jersey , that couldn’t be more further from the truth.Sure, both college football and the NFL is the same game in terms of rules, schemes and positions; however, there’s a reason why both organizations are on completely different levels.Over 70% of the players that play in college football don’t make it to the professional ranks. Because of that number, the players who do get selected by teams are generally playing against weaker opponents throughout their collegiate careers. On the other hand, the NFL is made up of tough, hungry and tried and true professionals who not only know how to play the game of football, but are also amongst the best in the world at every position on the field. While many college players have their NFL careers cut short due to poor preparation http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/authentic-justice-hill-jersey , that isn’t the only reason why some fail; poor technique, bad decisions off the field and addiction are only a few of the things that effect how young players move on to the next level. Now, if a sixth or seventh round pick suffers from something that was mentioned above, it isn’t hard to cut bait with them and move on. However, when you invest millions of dollars into a first round pick and their vices overcome their talent, that becomes a tough pill to swallow. With that being said, check out the worst first round NFL draft picks from each slot from number one to thirty-two.
ATLANTA — Atlanta Braves left-hander Sean Newcomb hadn’t lost since his opening start of the season until falling to the Dodgers in Los Angeles last Sunday Trevon Wesco Jersey , ending a six-game winning streak.
Now Newcomb gets a chance to bounce back against one of the teams he blanked during the streak as the Braves face the San Diego Padres on Saturday in the third game of their four-game series at SunTrust Park.
The Padres ended an eight-game losing streak in Atlanta on Friday night, beating the National League East-leading Braves 7-3 for their 12th victory in the past 17 games.
Newcomb (7-2, 2.92 ERA) held the Padres (34-38) to three singles in six scoreless innings at San Diego on June 5 in a 14-1 rout that was the only victory for the Braves (40-29) in that three-game series.
Newcomb’s performance was a near duplicate of his first major league victory last June in San Diego and gave him a 1.31 ERA during a seven-start stretch.
“Every time he goes on the mound you’re pretty confident we are going to get the win that day,” Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman said after going 4-for-4 with a homer. “He’s been lights-out for a long time.”
Newcomb hit a speed bump against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, though.
The 24-year-old native of Massachusetts gave up two first-pitch home runs, one on a three-run shot in the third inning, and allowed five runs in 5 1/3 innings of a 7-2 loss.
“I’ll do everything I can to not let it happen again Shareef Miller Jersey ,” Newcomb said. “I’ll take away the positives and move forward.”
Padres starter Jordan Lyles (2-3, 4.83 ERA) gave up eight runs in 4 1/3 innings as the Braves made things easy for Newcomb in San Diego and the 27-year-old right-hander took another loss in his most recent start.
Lyles again allowed 11 hits and this time four runs in six innings against the Cardinals in St. Louis, getting just three swings and misses on 102 pitches.
Lyles’ rough stretch followed some impressive work in May after he was moved into the rotation from the bullpen. He took a perfect game into the eighth inning against the Colorado Rockies in his second start and ended up allowing a hit and a walk while striking out 10 in 7 1/3 innings.
The Padres are the only major league team to never throw a no-hitter and Lyles was pitching against the team that released him last August.
“It would have been sweet regardless,” Lyles said afterward.
Lyles has a 6.35 ERA in four games (three starts) against the Braves, with the loss in San Diego last week his only decision.
Both Newcomb and Lyles are former first-round draft choices.
Newcomb, acquired from the Los Angeles Angels in the Andrelton Simmons trade after the 2015 season, was the 15th overall pick in 2014.
Lyles was drafted by Houston as the 38th overall pick in 2008 and traded to Colorado after the 2013 season.
There’s no denying the influence Jerry Jones has had on the Dallas Cowboys. For better or worse Zach Brown Jersey , most associate “America’s Team” with Jones, which is what he wants. When he took over as owner of the Cowboys in 1988, the once-great franchise had sunk badly, ending with a 3-13 record. The first year was worse with 1-15 but Jones and head coach Jimmy Johnson would rebound majorly by building the Cowboys into a team that would win three Super Bowls in four years and set a new standard for excellent play. Since then, however, the Cowboys have failed to make the big game and many feel that the reason for that is Jones himself. The key issue is that Jones is one of those owners who considers himself a football expert when he’s not and the fact he’s also the general manager makes it worse. Johnson has said the key reason he left was because he couldn’t stand the fact that he pulled off major moves (like the Herschel Walker trade) and Jones insisted on taking credit for them. Many others have made the same observation, Jones insists on being part of a process he doesn’t understand and that’s done as much damage to the Cowboys as helped them. His arrogance is one thing but many are thrown by how Jones seems to think that as long as the Cowboys get press Devin Bush Jersey , things are going fine, no matter how bad the team does. That’s really come up in this last season as, without Romo or Dez Bryant, Dallas sunk to a terrible 4-12 year. It thus seems the perfect time to look back at the worst moves Jones has made as owner/GM of the team and how, despite the success, his own attitude and “instinct” has been the reason the Cowboys have failed to get back to championship form.
After a four-week break from racing Michael Jordan Jersey , American standout Lindsey Vonn is returning to the Alpine skiing World Cup this weekend with an unusual mindset.
For the most successful female skier of all time, Vonn’s main priority at the first speed events of 2018 won’t be winning.
With only 40 days left until her season highlight, the Olympic downhill in Pyeongchang, avoiding injuries is all that matters.
”I feel solid but my focus this season is on the Olympics. So I am not going to risk anything this weekend,” Vonn told The Associated Press on Friday after taking part in a shortened training session.
She was worried because the snow on parts of the Karnten-Franz Klammer course was still too weak after heavy rain this week and mild temperatures.
”The top is good but the bottom is not safe to race,” she said.
Organizers swapped the program for this weekend by pushing back the downhill to Sunday and rescheduling a super-G for Saturday, as a downhill can be staged only after competitors have at least one training run on the entire course.
”I am also not sure why the super-G is first,” Vonn said. ”Considering the snow conditions, it would be better to do the downhill first but, again, I don’t know. We haven’t inspected the bottom part of the course so I am not really sure what the reason behind it is.”
Vonn said she would make her own decision about racing or not after checking the course on Saturday, saying she would rather sit it out ”if conditions aren’t good enough to run.”
Vonn badly injured her right knee landing in a patch of soft snow during the 2013 world championships, which ultimately ruled the 2010 Olympic downhill champion out of the Sochi Games the following year.
It explains the 33-year-old American’s cautiousness going into what likely will be her last Olympics.
Her season so far has been rather rough.
Trying to improve her ranking ahead of the Olympic giant slalom, she failed to qualify for the second run of the season-opening GS in Soelden Greedy Williams Jersey , Austria, in October.
Focusing on the speed events since, she landed in the safety netting at full speed during the first downhill in Lake Louise in early December, and finished only 12th in another downhill the next day. She crashed again in a super-G on the third day of racing at the Canadian resort where she won 18 times in the past.
A week later, she jarred her back in a super-G in St. Moritz, Switzerland, completing the race in pain in 24th place.
Vonn hasn’t raced since Dec. 16 when she earned her 78th career win at a super-G in Val d’Isere, France. The following day, she took part in the early morning inspection for another super-G at the resort but then decided against racing, citing a sore knee, and flew home.
”The last race in Val d’Isere I skied very well,” she said. ”It still wasn’t my best but I had a good block at home in Colorado. I was able to do a lot of condition training and got some GS and slalom in as well.”
Vonn practicing slalom underlined her ambition to start in the Olympic combined event as well.
”I feel good, definitely,” Vonn said Sione Takitaki Jersey , adding the knee was hampering her ”not more than usual. I feel decent.”
Competing professionally (or at a high level) in any sport, from mixed martial arts to tennis, one runs the risk of seriously getting hurt almost constantly. Hockey is an example, and players getting checked might suffer separated shoulders, concussions, broken collarbones and of course getting hit by pucks can cause also injury. Sports with more of an endurance element such as soccer and basketball see players pulling muscles, damaging ligaments and so on. Combat sports participants (boxing, MMA etc) have their own set of risks and anyone who has ever snapped a limb or wrenched a joint due to a submission hold can attest to that.Looking at football, it ranks as one of the hardest-hitting sports out there, and the threat of an accident is ever-present. Very few players on the field are safe. While hits on quarterbacks, wide receivers, punters, and kickers have been heavily scrutinized in recent seasons, the punishing hits remain the reality of the game. Similarly Sheldrick Redwine Jersey , blocks, legal tackles, and the day-to-day exertion of being an NFL player can lead to other issues. These include but are not limited to knee damage, ankle pain, shoulder problems, and just about every other body part can be hurt playing this game. Add to this the fact that many NFL players (especially linemen) carry a great deal of extra weight, which can cause long term damage to joints. In short, there is no wonder why there are numerous NFL players who have left the league in their prime because they don't want to deal with health issues that pose a risk to their later lives. Whether they left to avoid eventual permanent damage, or to avoid joint, muscle, ligament or other ailments, here are ten players who retired young to avoid getting hurt, along with five who might want to think about hanging up the cleats sometime soon due to their own ongoing health issues.
When you think of football players http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/aut...ferguson-jersey , certain words come to mind. Tough, physical and athletic just to name a few. While we watch on from our couches, these modern gladiators battle it out every week. Decades ago Miles Boykin Jersey , it was common to see guys walk off the field with bloodied jerseys and bleeding wounds like it was nothing. While the game has shifted more towards a player friendly safe approach, it still maintains – in essence – the physicality it came to be known for all those years ago. At the heart of it all stands the modern NFLer.We know that football players have to hit the gym a few times during the week to stay in shape. It’s part of their job description. You can’t very well move back a 225 pound running back just by relying on technique alone. These guys are strong and they’re big. Some use that to their advantage and others just can’t seem to have it work for them on the field. Regardless, it’s a tough sport and these guys need to consistently stay in football shape. That means something different depending on who it is you’re talking about. We’re going to be focusing on the guys who look like gym rats on the street. But don’t get me wrong http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/ch...vage-jr.-jersey , these guys can play. Here are the top 15 most jacked NFLers. Norway’s Jan Schmid won his third Nordic combined World Cup event of the season on Sunday to maintain his position as one of the gold medal favorites at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
After placing seventh in the ski jumping stage, Schmid erased a 1 minute, 14-second deficit in the 10-kilometer cross-country race to finish 6.6 seconds ahead of Estonia’s Kristjan Ilves.
Schmid surged ahead of Ilves with less than one kilometer left to add to his previous World Cup wins in Italy and France last month.
Edwin Jackson is making the most of his opportunity with yet another new team.
The 34-year-old journeyman earned his first win with Oakland Greedy Williams Jersey , pitching neatly into the seventh inning as the Athletics beat the Cleveland Indians 7-2 Saturday for their season-high sixth straight victory.
Jackson (1-0) signed a minor league contract with the A’s on June 6 and is now with his record-tying 13th major league team. He gave up only two hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked none in his second start for Oakland.
”Honestly, when I can look in the mirror and say that I can’t do it any more, I’ll go home,” Jackson said.
”I’m not playing for the money. I’m not playing for anything else but to come have fun,” he said.
Jackson was in the minors for Washington earlier this season, then joined the A’s. With their rotation beset by injuries, the Athletics gave Jackson a chance.
Matt Olson, Dustin Fowler and Josh Phegley homered to help the A’s win for the 12th time in 14 games. They’ve won seven straight against Cleveland and nine of their last 10 against the Indians in Oakland.
Jackson has won 10 consecutive decisions over Cleveland, a streak dating to 2008. His string against the Indians is the longest since Charlie Hough beat them 13 straight times from 1984-88.
Jackson has 13 strikeouts and hasn’t allowed a walk in 12 2/3 innings through his first two starts with Oakland. He topped out at 97 mph on Saturday.
”Based on the way he was available and the way he’s been able to pitch for us it’s a surprise, but he’s always been able to do that a little bit with the sinker and the four-seamer,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said.
”Now he just manipulates a little bit more and the offspeed stuff with the changeup speed and the slider. . It really keeps you off-balance,” he said.
The AL Central-leading Indians lost for the fourth time in five games.
The A’s trailed 2-0 going into the sixth http://www.ravensfootballauthentics.com/justice-hill-jersey-authentic , when Franklin Barreto became their first baserunner with a leadoff double against Adam Plutko (4-2). Phegley followed with his second home run and Oakland took a 3-2 lead when Fowler scored from first on Mark Canha’s double.
”I was extremely happy with the first four (innings) and how could you not be?” Plutko said. ”Even in the fifth I liked what I was doing, but in the sixth they came out with four straight hits, flexed their muscle and that was the game.”
Francisco Lindor hit his 20th homer and Jose Ramirez hit his 24th in the Cleveland fourth.
Oakland broke the game open in the eighth, when they homered twice in a four-run inning. Fowler hit his fifth home run leading off the inning against Dan Otero, and Olson hit a two-run shot off Josh Tomlin, his 18th.
Rookie Lou Trivino induced Yonder Alonso to hit into a game-ending for his third save. Trivino came into the game after the Indians loaded the bases with one out in the ninth off Santiago Casilla on a hit, a walk and a hit batter.
HOME
The A’s finally got their offense going at home, where going into Saturday were batting .233 and averaging 3.61 runs per game at the Coliseum. Oakland is hitting .263 and averaging 5.55 runs on the road.

Since their last encounter with the Philadelphia Phillies Ben Powers Jersey , the Washington Nationals did not do much offensively.
In fact, they did not score.
After going scoreless for two games with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Nationals hope to get their offense going Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
The Nationals rallied late to beat the Phillies on Sunday night but then mustered five hits and struck out 23 times in Tampa Bay. After the low output, Washington heads into Philadelphia with nine losses in 12 games and hopes to be refreshed following a day off on Wednesday.
“We’re in a little bit of a funk right now,” Washington manager Dave Martinez told reporters following Tuesday’s 1-0 loss. “This day off couldn’t come soon enough. We’ve had a rough go with our schedule here the last few days, so a little break will do the boys right.”
It is not about to get easier for the Nationals, though.
They will face Phillies ace Aaron Nola for the second time in four games on Thursday night. Right-hander Tanner Roark will be on the mound for Washington, making his second consecutive start against Philadelphia.
Nola (9-2, 2.58 ERA), well on his way to his first All-Star appearance, pitched six strong innings against the Nationals last Saturday. The righty gave up two runs on four hits and three walks and struck out five in a 5-3 Phillies win.
Nola has faced the Nationals 11 times in his career — the most of any opponent for the fourth-year major leaguer. He is 2-4 with a 4.35 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 60 innings in those starts.
Roark (3-8, 4.27) also has plenty of experience against the Phillies. He is 6-8 with a 4.34 ERA in 19 career games against the Nationals’ divisional rival. But Roark’s last outing against Philadelphia did not go well.
The 31-year-old had seven strikeouts, but he gave up six runs on seven hits and four walks last Friday in a 12-2 defeat. Before the loss to the Phillies, Roark gave up four runs on eight hits in four innings against the Toronto Blue Jays on June 17.
“The last two starts, I’ve left the bullpen out to dry, and I’m not happy about it,” Roark told MLB.com after his last start. “Just overall a bad start again. But I’ve got to stay optimistic. I found something in there. So, you’ve got to take a positive out of a negative all the time.”
The Phillies snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the New York Yankees on Wednesday night.
At 42-36, Philadelphia enters the series a game ahead of Washington for second place in the National League East. The Phillies are 2.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves for the top spot in the division.
The Phillies took two of three against the Nationals last weekend. The teams have split six head-to-head meetings in 2018 — all of which were at Nationals Park.

Aaron Nola was the man Gabe Kapler wanted on the mound with Manny Machado at the plate and the tying run on third base.
It was the right move.
Nola stuck out nine in seven splendid innings, Nick Williams hit a two-run homer and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-1 Wednesday to sweep a two-game interleague series.
Nola (11-2) gave up one run and seven hits to win his fifth straight decision.
He escaped a jam on his 103rd pitch when second baseman Cesar Hernandez made an outstanding, over-the-shoulder running catch on Machado’s shallow fly to right with two outs and runners on first and third.
”That’s awesome,” Nola said of the play.
Kapler, who was heavily criticized for pulling Nola after 68 pitches in the season opener at Atlanta, visited the mound before letting his ace face Machado with a 2-1 lead.
”We knew he was the best option,” the first-year manager said. ”He always makes us feel confident.”
Nola said he would’ve lobbied to stay in but didn’t have to say anything other than he felt fine.
”I want to go deep in the game,” he said. ”I want to get through that inning.”
After five consecutive losing seasons, the Phillies are on the rise under Kapler. They pulled within 1 1/2 games of NL East-leading Atlanta and moved 10 games over .500 for the first time since finishing the 2011 season with a franchise-record 102 wins.
”It’s a nice milestone, one we can celebrate,” Kapler said.
Making his second career start and third appearance http://www.lionscheapstore.com/austin-bryant-jersey-cheap , Orioles right-hander Yefry Ramirez (0-2) retired 13 of his first 14 batters before running into trouble in the fifth. Ramirez gave up two runs – one earned – and one hit in five innings.
”I was really proud of Yefry. You couldn’t ask for much better,” Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.
Williams connected off David Hess in the seventh, sending a 409-foot shot into Philadelphia’s bullpen in right-center and extending the lead to 4-1.
Victor Arano tossed two scoreless innings for his first career save.
Ramirez didn’t allow a hit until Scott Kingery ripped a one-out double to left in the fifth. Williams, who walked, advanced to third on the hit.
Jorge Alfaro followed with a grounder down the first-base line. Chris Davis moved a few steps to his left, took his eyes off the ball to look at Williams running halfway down the line, and the ball knuckled under his glove. Both runners scored on the error.
Adam Jones lined an RBI double to left-center in the third, giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead.
WELCOMING MANNY
For the second straight day, fans clapped each time Machado was introduced. They also chanted ”We want Manny!”
The three-time All-Star is set to become a free agent after the season and the Phillies are among the teams interested in acquiring him before the non-waiver trade deadline on July 31 or signing him in the offseason.
Machado told reporters before the game he wants to play shortstop wherever he goes and he wouldn’t be surprised if Philadelphia aggressively pursued him. Phillies team president Andy MacPhail held the same position in Baltimore when the Orioles selected Machado No. 3 overall in the 2010 amateur draft.
TRAINER’S ROOM
Orioles: OF Joey Rickard was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to replace OF Colby Rasmus, who was placed on the restricted list before Tuesday night’s game.
Phillies: RHP Jerad Eickhoff was scheduled to throw another live batting practice at Single-A Clearwater. Eickhoff has nerve issue in fingers and hasn’t pitched this season.

Phillies: Nick Pivetta (5-7, 4.66 ERA) takes the mound at Pittsburgh for the start of a three-game series on Friday. Pivetta earned the win in a scoreless inning of relief in Philadelphia’s 13-inning victory over Washington last Sunday.
NFL busts come and go Ryan Finley Jersey , and when they go, they really GO. They disappear out of the league after around 5 years never to be heard from again. These players go from being the biggest talk in the town to not even being in the town at all. This can have quite the effect on a player's mental state, and it's interesting to see how they bounce back from it. Some players go back to college and get there degrees, some find jobs in sports whether it's by being a broadcaster or coach, and some turn to illegal activities. It's always interesting to track these players after they fall out of the spotlight for whatever reason, whether it's injury, legal trouble Renell Wren Jersey , or just being plain bad. It's always a great thing to see players bounce back even if their football careers don't end up going as they wanted. Sometimes, these players are just destined for other things and they find their footing.Today we will take a look at some of the biggest busts of the 2000s and talk about 8 that have found their footing in a new profession and are doing well, and 7 that have fallen into the abyss of hard times. Eric Rowe was in a daze after being told he was being traded from Philadelphia to New England in September of 2016, wondering why the team that drafted in the second round a year earlier no longer wanted him.
The safety says he was blindsided by the deal to the Patriots, who sent the Eagles a fourth-round draft pick.
One message of support he received stood out. It was a text from Eagles veteran safety Malcolm Jenkins, who had taken a young Rowe under his wing.
”I remember he texted me the day I got traded just telling me that everything happens for a reason,” Rowe recalled. ”`Whatever you do Michael Jordan Jersey , just keep working, because you’re going to be great one day.”’
Two seasons later, Jenkins and Rowe will be on opposite sidelines with a championship at stake.
Jenkins said it was a no-brainer to try to mentor Rowe when he was the Eagles.
”He played a lot as a rookie, played some significant snaps. But once he got traded I wanted to send him a text encouraging him,” Jenkins said. ”Sometimes this business will move you around and then teams will get rid of you and doubt you. But at the end of the day don’t let it change what you think about yourself. You’re gonna be a great player.”
Rowe said the words from a ”phenomenal leader” like Jenkins helped him focus following the trade.
”I knew it was just the business of the NFL,” Rowe said. ”I’m like, `OK Greedy Williams Jersey , I need to take advantage of this opportunity, because you don’t get a lot of opportunities to play for the Patriots.”’
In the season-plus that Rowe has been gone from Philadelphia, he’s become yet another young defender who as developed into an asset in the Patriots’ system.
Including the playoffs, he has appeared in 22 games for New England, totaling 49 tackles and two interceptions.
Rowe has primarily been used as an extra defensive back in passing situations and could draw the responsibility as the last line of defense against the Eagles receivers.
With linebacker Jordan Hicks out for the season with an Achilles tendon injury, Rowe may be matched up with receiver Nelson Agholor.
Agholor was Philadelphia’s first-round pick in 2015 and led the Eagles with a career-best 62 receptions for 768 yards and eight touchdowns.
”I talk to guys. We’re still friends. We hang out in the offseason,” Rowe said. ”I texted them `Congrats’ because some of us were in the same draft class or on the same team.”
Friends or not Sione Takitaki Jersey , Rowe is ready for whatever comes next as he vies for his second straight Super Bowl ring.
”It’s only my third year, and my second going to a Super Bowl. I don’t know what the odds of that are, so obviously I don’t take it for granted,” Rowe said. ”But there’s a couple of guys in here that have been to four, and they still take it like their first one. So I never take it for granted.”
