INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard keeps collecting draft chips. He figures it gives him better odds to hit it big.One year after moving back three spots in the first round and making four second-round selections Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey , Ballard did it again Thursday by sending the No. 26 overall pick to the Washington Redskins for two second-round picks. Indy will now select at No. 34, courtesy of last year’s deal with the New York Jets, at No. 46, thanks to the Redskins, and at No. 59, their own pick on Friday, plus they’ve added the Redskins’ second-round pick in 2020.“It was just a chance to pick up a 2020 second-round pick, we thought the value was good and we thought there was still good enough value to be there in the second round to move back,” Ballard said. “We think the ability of having three seconds, we thought that was the strength of how we had it lined up.”It’s all part of a plan.Ballard knew it would be difficult to replicate last year’s successes. He had five picks in the first two rounds, found starters with each of his first three choices and Indy’s first two selections — left guard Quenton Nelson and linebacker Darius Leonard — became the first rookie teammates to become first-team All-Pros since Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus with the Chicago Bears in 1965.At Monday’s pre-draft news conference, Ballard told reporters that the Colts had eight players targeted in the first round. And though he acknowledged some were still available when Indy went on the clock, he still opted for Plan B: Moving out of the first round for better value in the second. In fact, he hinted at the prospect of a trade when he joked with reporters that he might not speak again until Friday.“I kind of had a feeling (Monday), I don’t know why,” he said. “Sometimes you just have a feeling. I had a feeling we would have a chance to get out and it would be the best thing for us long term.”He may not be finished dealing, either. In three seasons with the Colts, he has now made eight trades involving trade picks though he knew this one might not be well-received.“We’ve got a room full of people, we’ve got you all sitting here, I get it, everyone wants you to pick a player,” he said. “But I’m pretty patient. I don’t panic, we don’t panic, we stay true to what we’re looking at on the board.”The Colts now have 10 picks this weekend including their own third-rounder, No. 89 overall, on Friday.__ The rooks are here" />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHogs Haven homepageHorizontal - WhiteHogs Havena Washington Redskins communityFollow Hogs Haven online:Follow Hogs Haven on TwitterFollow Hogs Haven on FacebookLog in or sign upLog InSign UpSite searchSearchSearchHogs Haven main menuFanpostsFanshotsSectionsRedskinsMastheadOddsShopCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 321 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Looks Like Someone Has A Sixpack Of The MondaysDaily SlopRedskins RecapsEDTThe Redskins held rookie mini-camp Friday and Saturday, and gave everyone their first look at the new guys. PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pressure is relative. So forgive Kameron Kelly if the Pittsburgh Steelers safety isn’t getting caught up on whether he’ll still have a job in the NFL once teams pare the rosters from 90 to 53 on Saturday afternoon.“I just ball James Conner Jersey ,” Kelly said Tuesday. “These are all my brothers. I don’t want any of us to get cut.”The reality of playing professional football for a living, however, won’t allow it. Brotherhood aside, Kelly is well aware of the cutthroat nature of the business. He lived it last spring while playing for the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football. One afternoon, Kelly was in a meeting with his Fleet teammates when he stepped outside during a quick break and opened up Twitter on his phone. The news wasn’t good. The fledgling league was broke. He was out of a job. So was everyone else in the building. So Kelly bailed. Immediately. Not even bothering to take any of the modest swag the players were given. Called his mom, his dad and his agent then went back to his hotel room and slept. When he woke up, he headed to Mexico for a three-day vacation wondering if any realistic shot at reaching the NFL was over. Now that’s pressure. Wondering if he’s going to stick with the Steelers — an opportunity he wasn’t sure would materialize when the AAF went belly-up — not so much.Besides, Kelly probably doesn’t need to be concerned. He’s done so well while playing both safety spots in addition to carving out a role in nickel and dime packages he’s almost certain to survive cut day. Not that he wants to talk about it.“I don’t ever want to think I have it on lock,” Kelly said. “I always want to play with that chip on my shoulder because I feel like that chip is what helped me elevate my game. So that chip is going nowhere.”Maybe, but three dozen of the men Kelly will share the field with on Thursday night will be. While stars like Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and cornerback Joe Haden can turn their attention to the season opener at New England on Sept. 8, the majority of players who will see extended playing time against Carolina will be hoping to make a compelling argument for gainful employment, whether it’s in Pittsburgh or elsewhere.Linebacker Tuzar Skipper’s stat line during the preseason is impressive: three sacks in three games. Yet there’s also another number he’s concerned about: zero. That’s the number of snaps on special teams he’s taken. For a guy trying to lock down the 52nd or 53rd roster spot by showing how versatile he can be, that’s not great.Asked what he feels he needs to show the coaching staff, Skipper — an undrafted rookie who attended an open tryout for the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the spring before eventually making his way to Pittsburgh — didn’t hesitate.“Play special teams https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey ,” he said with a laugh before pointing out he was a “War Daddy” on kickoff coverage while playing collegiately at Toledo.Still, Skipper is optimistic. He believes he’s done enough to earn a look elsewhere if Pittsburgh doesn’t work out. He’d prefer, however, not to have to pack up and move. The trip to Carolina offers an opportunity to put more things on tape, things besides just getting to the quarterback. At 24, Skipper has the luxury of time. At 27, Diontae Spencer might not. The 5-foot-8 wide receiver/kick returner spent four years in the CFL, setting career highs in receptions (81), yards receiving (1,007) and touchdowns (seven) last summer while playing for the Ottawa Redblacks. He could have chosen to stay in the CFL, which offers job security if nothing else. Yet he promised himself he’d give the NFL another shot even if he knew the odds weren’t great. He hasn’t disappointed. He’s caught two passes for 15 yards, turned a pair of reverses into 48 yards rushing, averaged a healthy 14.7 yards per punt return and his 35-yard kickoff return is the team’s longest of the preseason. The numbers game, however Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , could make it tough for him to stick. To keep Spencer, the Steelers might have to cut Eli Rogers, Ryan Switzer or third-round pick Diontae Johnson. Switzer is a veteran who’s earned Roethlisberger’s trust. Rogers is more familiar with the system and Johnson was the 66th overall pick in the draft.“At the end of the day, no matter what happens, I can always look back and say I tried it and if I didn’t try it, I feel like I would have a huge burden on me saying, ‘What if?’ and I didn’t want to have that in my head,” Spencer said. “I feel like no matter what it was the best opportunity for me.”NOTES: The Steelers claimed rookie CB Jhavonte Dean off waivers from Cleveland. To make room for Dean, the Steelers cut CB Brian Allen, who suffered an ankle injury last week. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has generated plenty of headlines over the years during his weekly, in-season appearances on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh. That may be ending.Per a source with direct knowledge of the situation, He has yet to make a final decision, and that decision is expected soon.Matt Verderame of FanSided.com first reported, citing multiple unnamed sources Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , that Roethlisberger is expected to give up the show.According to the source, Roethlisberger did the show in order to connect with fans and to provide access, because many felt he was too guarded. Many, however, believe he became too unguarded during the radio segments, which generated regular headlines of a negative variety. It was his weekly radio show, for example, that led to the question of whether he has a license to criticize teammates, such as now-former teammate Antonio Brown. If Roethlisberger stops doing the radio show, we’ll miss it. But the fact that we’ll miss it is even more reason for him to stop doing it. Unlike Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who does a weekly segment with WEEI in Boston and rarely says anything controversial, Roethlisberger’s comfort level in that setting results far too often in his true feelings slipping past whatever filter he has went speaking to the media in the locker room or at post-game press conferences.

Downing-USA TODAY SportsWhen you have a quarterback who is making $25 million a year and that quarterback is coming off a season where he was sacked 51 times you can expect a shake up on the offensive line.Jon Gruden knows that the key to success on offense starts with protecting Derek Carr.Mike Mayock and Gruden have made it a priority early in free agency to address the lack of “Carr” insurance. The offensive line is going to look much different this season.Starting with the departures, the Raiders said goodbye to guards Kelechi Osemele and key reserve Jon Feliciano.Osemele was dealt along with a 6th round pick (196) to the Jets for a 5th round pick (140), the move frees up $10.2 million in cap space.Feliciano jumped at an opportunity to be a starter, signing with the Buffalo Bills. The additions include guard/tackle Denzelle Good, who was added late season and re-signed to a one-year deal.Good played well when filling in for Gabe Jackson last season and as of now could be in line for a starting guard position with Jackson potentially switching back to left guard. The big addition, both literally and figuratively, is tackle Trent Brown.Brown is a massive human being at 6 foot 8, 350 pounds. The Raiders made Brown the highest paid tackle in league history with a $66 million dollar contract ($36.75 million guaranteed). The question that many are asking is will Kolton Miller move to right tackle if Brown is being paid left tackle money? Most of his three years with the 49ers Brown played right tackle, but was moved to left tackle with the Patriots last season.Despite which tackle spot he plays with the Raiders, the addition of Brown improves the line as a whole by bumping 2018 rookie right tackle Brandon Parker out of a starting role. With the possibility of Gabe Jackson moving back to left guard where he began his NFL career with the Raiders, the combo of Brown and Jackson would form a behemoth left side to the line.Donald Penn seems to be the odd man out.The veteran left tackle turns 36 in April and is coming off a season ending injury after starting the first four games at right tackle. With the addition of Brown to go along with Parker and Miller it would make sense for the Raiders to cut Penn.Releasing him would save $5.475 million in salary cap space. The only sure starting position on the line to remain unchanged is Pro Bowl center Rodney Hudson. One final change that should be expected is for the Raiders add another lineman, preferably a guard though the draft. There are some nice options available if Mayock and Gruden decide to go in that direction.Cody Ford, Dalton Risner, Chris Lindstrom, and Garret Bradbury are a few of the top names.Ford, Risner, and Bradburry offer an added bonus of being able to play multiple positions on the line if needed.Projected Starting Offensive LineLT- Trent BrownLG- Gabe JacksonC- Rodney HudsonRG- Denzelle GoodRT- Kolton Miller CINCINNATI (AP) — Joe Mixon had one of the best games of his career in yet another Bengals loss — making it seven of their past eight, and counting. He sees no reason to slow down even as another season slips away in Cincinnati.“Right now, we are down but we ain’t out, so that’s how I’m approaching it,” the second-year running back said. “I’m going to approach it like we’re in.”Technically, the last-place Bengals (5-8) aren’t eliminated from playoff contention despite their third-longest losing streak in coach Marvin Lewis’ 16 seasons. They could still get the AFC North title if they win out and the Steelers, Ravens and Browns all fall apart the rest of the way.Article continues below ...A loss Sunday to the Raiders (3-10) would eliminate the pretense and leave Cincinnati with a third straight losing season and a lot of big questions to address in the offseason: Does Lewis stay? Who’s the next defensive coordinator? Will anything really change so long as Mike Brown runs the franchise?By contrast, the Raiders are already in next-year mode. Following a 24-21 win over the Steelers , they fired general manager Reggie McKenzie and launched into a front-office reshuffle in preparation for coach Jon Gruden’s second season back with the Raiders. They don’t have a general manager and they’re not sure where they’ll be playing next season before moving to Las Vegas in 2020, but all that’s for later. First Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , they have to finish a season in flux.“When you get here, it’s just rainbows and butterflies because you made it to the NFL,” quarterback Derek Carr said. “All of a sudden, you get new friends every year. I think I’ve counted I’ve had like 27 different people in the locker next to me in five years. It just shows you how tough this business is.”Some things to watch Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium:STRIKE THE BALANCECarr has found a comfort zone in Gruden’s offense. He began the season overly aggressive, throwing eight interceptions in the first five games. Then he got overly cautious, failing to complete a pass of more than 10 yards twice in a span of three games. He’s finally gotten a balance.Carr has gone a franchise-record eight straight games without an interception and has regained his deep touch. He completed nine passes that traveled at least 15 yards downfield the past two games against Kansas City and Pittsburgh, equaling his total from his previous six games combined. Now he’s facing the NFL’s worst defense.“I feel more confident in our system,” Carr said. “I feel like my reads are quicker. I feel like I can get through things and eliminate things faster. That feels better.”RAIDERS BANGED-UP O-LINEThe Raiders come into the game with major questions on the offensive line. Starting left tackle Kelechi Osemele missed last week’s game with a toe injury. Starting right tackle Gabe Jackson is dealing with an elbow injury.Backup Jon Feliciano was placed on injured reserve with a calf injury, leaving Chaz Green and Denver Kirkland as potential options against Geno Atkins, .“I know that both of them are as tough as they come and if there’s a will, there’s a way,” Gruden said. “They have the will, I know that. We’ll just hope for the best.”GUENTHER’S RETURNPaul Guenther left Cincinnati after 13 years on Lewis’ staff, including the last four as defensive coordinator, to join Gruden’s staff. He knows the Bengals’ offense, which is struggling mightily with quarterback Andy Dalton and receiver A.J. Green out for the season because of injuries.Guenther also is very familiar with Jeff Driskel, who makes his third NFL start in Dalton’s place. The Bengals expect Guenther to try to disguise blitzes and coverages to throw off Driskel.“I know whenever you’re going against a quarterback who hasn’t played much, as a defense you’re always looking forward to it,” Bengals linebacker Vincent Rey said.TURNING MIXON LOOSEMixon had a career-high 26 carries for 111 yards during a 26-21 loss to the Chargers in Los Angeles. He also caught a team-high five passes, becoming the focal point of Cincinnati’s depleted offense. The Bengals plan to lean on him heavily in the final three games. The Raiders know he’s the one to stop.“Man, he’s good,” Gruden said. “He’s a great slash. He can stop and start. He has power. He’s a good receiver. He’s a good blitz pickup guy. He’s putting it together in Cincinnati.”WILL ANYBODY WATCH?A small crowd is expected for the Bengals’ final home game. They’ve gone 3-4 at Paul Brown Stadium before some of the smallest crowds in its history. Their average of 51,673 is the second-smallest attendance since the 65,535-seat stadium opened in 2000.
The Giants may have gotten the first crack at a private meeting with Dwayne Haskins Joe Flacco Jersey White , but they’ll be far from the last.According to Aditi Kinkhabwhala of NFL Network, the Ohio State quarterback said he also has four other meetings scheduled (though there could always be more).Specifically, Haskins mentioned the Raiders (who pick fourth overall), Broncos (10th), Dolphins (13th) Womens Courtland Sutton Jersey , and Washington (15th). The Giants are picking sixth overall. The conventional wisdom is that Haskins could be the second quarterback off the board after Kyler Murray, but that kind of range of teams setting up meetings speaks to the uncertainty. With so many teams looking for answers at the position, there could be interest in trading up to get to Haskins. Jets General Manager Mike Maccagnan has already admitted he’d be willing to trade down from the third spot if the price was right, and these meetings might help teams decide whether they want to get involved. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas started and ended the week in Denver, but the circumstances were pretty different.Thomas was on the Broncos when the week started and he ended it as a member of the Texans after being traded ahead of last Tuesday’s deadline. home for more than eight years to see a lot of familiar faces as he worked to settle in with his new team.“It was tough Womens Von Miller Jersey , man,” Thomas said, via the Denver Post. “It was tough. Throughout the week, it was tough. I just wanted to make sure I knew all the plays and helped my guys.”Thomas caught three passes for 61 yards, including back-to-back catches for 49 yards that set up a touchdown on Houston’s opening possession. That helped them to a 19-17 win and left Thomas to say goodbye to Von Miller https://www.broncoslockerroom.com/authentic-von-miller-jersey , former teammate Peyton Manning and others as he headed back to Houston to continue the next chapter of his career.
CARSON Montez Sweat Jersey , Calif. (AP)Coach Jay Gruden was thoroughly baffled by his Redskins’ performance. Washington safety D.J. Swearinger blamed poor practices and a deficient mental approach. Kirk Cousins was simply disappointed when the Redskins’ playoff hopes officially ended in a soccer stadium in Southern California. But perhaps Washington shouldn’t have been quite so self-critical after a 30-13 loss on Sunday. After all, Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers (7-6) have made most of their opponents feel really bad about themselves over the past 10 weeks as they’ve surged above .500 and into the thick of the AFC playoff race. While the Chargers dominated in their fourth straight win, the Redskins (5-8) were eliminated from postseason contention with their sixth loss in eight games. Washington managed only 201 total yards and fell behind by 24 points in the third quarter. ”I’m at a loss for words, quite honestly,” Gruden said. ”I never thought we’d get beat like this two weeks in a row.” Washington followed up its 38-14 loss at Dallas last week with another thrashing. Rivers passed for 319 yards in the Chargers’ seventh victory in nine games, hitting Tyrell Williams and Hunter Henry for touchdowns. Los Angeles racked up 429 yards by midway through the third quarter, and Melvin Gordon rushed for a final touchdown before several regulars took most of the fourth quarter off. Cousins hit Vernon Davis with an early TD pass , but the Redskins were left dismayed by another lost season. Swearinger, who joined the Redskins this year, wasn’t afraid to cite specific factors in their downfall, including Washington’s effort in practice this week. ”It was like just this, `Blah, blah. OK, we’re out here at practice. Blah,”’ Swearinger said. ”We’ve got to practice better. I’ve been saying it all year. … It’s not surprising at all to me. You don’t prepare well, you’re going to fail. I don’t think we prepared well with some of the questions that’s been asked (by players) before the game. `Are you doing this right here? Are you doing this right there?’ We’re just not prepared.” Although Bashaud Breeland returned an interception of Kellen Clemens’ pass 96 yards for a touchdown with 2:36 to play, Washington’s defense had few answers. The Redskins gave up 8.24 yards per play during the first three quarters, and the Chargers successfully ran a reverse and a flea-flicker to Keenan Allen. ”We’ve definitely taken steps back (on defense),” Swearinger said. ”We had 30 put on us today. Dallas put (38) on us last week. We’ve taken major steps back.” More things to know about the Chargers’ fourth win over the Redskins in five meetings: CHARGE AHEAD Williams caught a 75-yard touchdown pass for the Chargers, whose 0-4 start to their relocation season seems a distant memory. The Chargers even have a winning record for the first time since September 2015. They’ve outscored their opponents 131-53 during their four-game winning streak while outgaining them by a whopping 731 total yards. They’ve also won four straight home games since starting 0-3 at StubHub Center. BIG PHILLY STYLE Rivers moved ahead of Warren Moon for ninth place in NFL history in career yards passing. During the four-game winning streak, Rivers has passed for 1,348 yards with eight touchdowns and no interceptions. He also surpassed 3,500 yards passing for the 10th consecutive season Dwayne Haskins Jersey , joining Peyton Manning and Drew Brees as the only NFL quarterbacks to hit the mark in 10 straight years. Manning and Brees, whose streak is active, did it 13 times. PENALTY KICKS Washington linebacker Zach Brown sprained his toe in the second half and left in a walking boot. He blamed the StubHub Center turf: ”That field is crap. It’s made for soccer.” The field in the Chargers’ temporary home hasn’t received serious criticism from previous opponents, but the Redskins did appear to be slipping regularly. MISSED CHANCE Los Angeles had a 23-6 lead when it drove 81 yards in the final 1:25 before halftime. The Chargers missed out on even more points because Austin Ekeler was tackled on a 33-yard run at the Washington 4 as time ran out. Lynn blamed Ekeler for risking a run to end zone despite knowing he needed to get down. POINT BREAK The Chargers’ 24-point lead in the third quarter allowed several regulars to rest in the fourth. Los Angeles will need it before the biggest game of the season to date: Saturday’s showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs (7-6), their co-leaders in the AFC West. ”These are the games you grow up dreaming about playing, and here we are playing it with two teams that are sitting there at 7-6,” Rivers said. — ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Colt McCoy silenced his phone knowing he was coming back to his home state for his first NFL start in four years, in the stadium where he helped lead the Texas Longhorns to a shot at a national title as their star quarterback and where he last won a game as a pro.The longtime Washington backup also knows what’s most important as he takes over following Alex Smith’s season-ending leg injury . The Redskins (6-4) can control the NFC East by beating the rival Dallas Cowboys (5-5) in the most traditional of Thanksgiving games Thursday.“I’m thankful for the opportunity, but I think it’s even more than that,” McCoy said. “It’s time to just go play and put everything else aside. We have a huge game this week. It’s a huge game.”McCoy is 2-0 at AT&T Stadium, beating Nebraska for the 2009 Big 12 championship and a spot in the BCS championship game, which Texas lost to Alabama when McCoy got hurt early. The small-town Texas kid beat the Cowboys five years later, completing 25 of 30 passes for 299 yards in a 20-17 overtime win for the Redskins. He’s 32 now, and hasn’t started since the last of three straight defeats late in the 2014 season, a little more than a month removed from that win over the Cowboys. McCoy, a third-round pick by Cleveland in 2010 after that title-game loss to the Crimson Tide, has a career record of 7-18.McCoy is in his fifth year as Washington’s backup and has played just four games over four seasons, including when he replaced Smith in the third quarter of Sunday’s 23-21 loss to Houston. A potential winning drive stalled near midfield, and Dustin Hopkins‘ 63-yard field goal try fell short with 3 seconds left.“It’s been a while since he’s played in a significant game. That’ll be the challenge,” coach Jay Gruden said.“I know he’s excited as heck, man. He hated to get the opportunity the way he got it with Alex getting hurt. I understand that. But deep down inside, he’s been waiting for this.”Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott has been waiting for another Thanksgiving game since he had to miss last year on his six-game suspension over domestic violence allegations. In his Thanksgiving debut against the Redskins two years ago as a rookie Dwayne Haskins Redskins Jersey , he jumped into the giant Salvation Army red kettle after a touchdown in a 31-26 Dallas win.The Cowboys have a chance to tie the Redskins for the division lead thanks to their first winning streak of the season, a pair of victories on the road after they were winless in their first four away from home.“We said this a couple weeks ago, though; we knew that the division was still in front of us,” quarterback Dak Prescott said. “Our backs are still against the wall. We know what this game means. We know how important this game is.”BIG RETURNSWashington could get a major boost if any combination of left tackle Trent Williams, running back Chris Thompson, wide receiver Jamison Crowder and cornerback Quinton Dunbar can return from lengthy injury absences.Williams just needs to feel comfortable blocking after surgery for a dislocated right thumb, and Thompson said his injured ribs feel markedly better this week. Dunbar, who’s dealing with nerve damage as part of a shin injury, feels “pretty close” but isn’t sure if he’ll make the problem worse.ELLIOTT’S WORKLOADIt just so happens that Elliott’s season high in touches — 30 in a 22-19 win over Atlanta — came on the Cowboys’ annual short week. In road wins over the NFC’s past two Super Bowl participants in Philadelphia and Atlanta, from scrimmage and three touchdowns.“If that’s what it has to be then that’s what it’s going to be,” said Elliott, who needs 91 yards rushing to overtake idle NFL rushing leader and MVP contender Todd Gurley. “I’m definitely not afraid of that.”BALANCING ACTPart of the Redskins’ challenge in helping McCoy succeed is getting Adrian Peterson going on the ground. Peterson had just 16 carries for 51 yards in the loss to Houston, but ran for two touchdowns and is looking forward to playing back in his home state of Texas. The pressure’s on Peterson and the rest of Washington’s running backs to produce in the running and passing games. The former Oklahoma standout had 99 yards in the earlier win over the Cowboys.GALLUP BACKDallas rookie receiver Michael Gallup is expected to play after rejoining the team Wednesday. He stayed behind with his family after getting the news following the win over the Falcons that his brother died by suicide.“The situation’s unique, the individual’s unique, the circumstances,” coach Jason Garrett said. “I do think for all of us as we go through challenging things, I do think getting back to routine and structure typically can help us.”STARTS WITH DEFENSEThe Redskins, who haven’t allowed a 100-yard rusher, held Elliott to 33 yards in a 20-17 win in the first meeting. It’s the second-lowest total of his career. Both teams are in the top five in scoring defense and in the top six in rushing defense.
In 2019 Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , Ben Roethlisberger will the final year of his current contract. The Steelers would like to keep that from happening. In an interview with Steelers.com, Steelers owner (and owner and operator of Steelers.com) Art Rooney II acknowledges the obvious.鈥淸W]e鈥檇 like to extend Ben鈥檚 contract,” Rooney said. “I always hate to predict the timing of those things, but that鈥檚 certainly something that is on the agenda for this offseason. Yes, the good news is that you certainly look around the league now and quarterbacks are playing at a high level into their 40s. I wouldn鈥檛 have expected that years ago, so I feel good about where Ben is physically, mentally, his ability to be a productive player for multiple years. So, I think we feel good about trying to extend his contract.”It’s easy to say, “We’d like to extend his contract.” It’s not as easy to come up with the right number.Roethlisberger is due to receive a $5 million roster bonus on March 19, along with a base salary of $12 million in 2019. That’s a total payout (math is hard) of $17 million for the year, along with a cap number of $23.2 million. So what would it take to extend Roethlisberger’s deal? With the top of the market currently at $33.5 million and guys like Derek Carr making $25 million, Roethlisberger should want at least $28 million per year, the average paid to Kirk Cousins by the Vikings a year ago.Under Roethlisberger’s current deal, he earns an average of $21.85 million per year. That’s been a very good arrangement for the Steelers JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , and Roethlisberger may want his next contract to make up for the fact that the Steelers have gotten franchise-quarterback performance from a guy who makes much less than other quarterbacks, franchise or otherwise.Roethlisberger’s leverage would be to play year-to-year under the tag, which would result in a 2020 one-year contract of $27.84 million and a 2021 tender of $33.4 million. Those numbers also could lay the foundation for his minimum position on a new deal: Three years, $78.24 million, the sum of what he’ll make if he indeed proceeds one year at a time. That’s an average of $26 million per year. For anything less than that, Roethsliberger should say, “Thanks but not thanks.” Check out a full 7-round mock draft to see just who is predicted to go to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2019 NFL Draft."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Latest NewsSteelers Film Room2018 NFL Draft AnalysisLatest NewsLatest News2019 Mock Draft Database2019 NFL Mock Draft: Latest 7-round mock draft has the Steelers on the move in Round 1 New,45commentsCheck out a full 7-round mock draft to see just who is predicted to go to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2019 NFL Draft.EDTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Mock Draft: Latest 7-round mock draft has the Steelers on the move in Round 1 Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsThe 2019 NFL Draft is finally here, and as the NFL world turns their focus to Nashville, Tennessee for the big event, fans’ attention still focuses on the process of trying to predict who their favorite team will select. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, they have 10 total draft picks throughout the three day, 7 round process. Most websites simply consist of showing who they think the team will take in the first round, and maybe a two round mock draft, but there are a few rare media personalities who will take a stab at a full 7-round prediction. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Ray Fittipaldo is one of those rogue journalists https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-juju-smith-schuster-jersey , and put out his first full mock draft of the year. At this point these predictions are just stabs in the dark. Great for conversation and debate, but that is about it. Once the teams start heading to Pro Days, and host pre-draft visits, then you will start to see the focus narrow on these type of prediction articles. For the record, Fittipaldo goes into great detail on all of his selections, you can read them all HERE, but out of respect to the work he did I will show his explanation of just his first round pick.At this point, check out the full mock draft below, and feel free to let us know what you think of the haul in the comment section below....It’s been 13 years since the Steelers last traded up in the first round of the draft. It’s time they do it again to land Michigan linebacker Devin Bush. The projected trade has the Steelers sending their first-round pick (No. 20 overall) and second third-round pick (No. 84) to the Redskins in return for No. 15, where they can select Bush.Bush (5-11, 234) has rocketed up draft boards in the past few months thanks to a great combine workout. He’ll be coveted. The Bengals, who own the No. 11 pick, need a linebacker to replace Vontaze Burfict and have been tied to Bush. linebacker, including offensive line, tight end and maybe even quarterback. Don’t forget: New Bengals coach Zac Taylor is an offense-oriented coach from the Sean McVay coaching tree and will want to choose his own quarterback at some point. The Redskins Womens James Conner Jersey , meanwhile, will gladly take an extra third-round pick in return for five spots in the draft. Other than quarterback, their biggest need is corner and the value at corner is at the tail end of the first round and second round and after. Why the Redskins? Well, Carolina holds the 16th pick, and the Panthers are looking for a linebacker to replace Thomas Davis. The Steelers might have to jump ahead to get their three-down linebacker. The Steelers can afford to deal away a third-round pick because they recouped an early third (No. 66 overall) as part of the Antonio Brown trade. This deal allows the Steelers to address their biggest need while keeping a pick in every subsequent round and three in the sixth to address their other deficiencies. Here is the rest of my final seven-round mock draft. The Steelers take six defensive players and three offensive players.2. S Darnell Savage of Maryland (5-11, 198)3. WR Miles Boykin of Notre Dame (6-4, 220)4. TE Josh Oliver of San Jose State (6-5, 249)5. CB Iman Marshall of USC (6-1, 207)6a. ILB T.J. Edwards of Wisconsin (6-0, 230)6b. OLB Ben Banogu of TCU (6-3, 250)6c. DL Jonathan Ledbetter of Georgia (6-4, 280)7. Kerrith Whyte of Florida Atlantic (5-10, 197)

It allows current players to wear the number of some iconic and often Hall of Fame players. There was one of the most iconic numbers available when the Raiders made Johnathan Abram their pick at 27 and he made sure he was the next to wear it.He chose number 24 for Charles Woodson. The future Hall of Famer had a message for the new Raiders safety.“I mean for me for that number, that number carries a lot of weight, you know?” said Abram. “Seeing the message that Charles Woodson put out about the shoes and the role I have to fill for the greats that played before me, you know like [George] Atkinson and Jack Tatum and himself. He didn’t want to include himself, but he’s a Hall of Famer. He’s going to go down as one of the greatest Raiders to ever play. For Coach Gruden to give me that number, it’s some big shoes I have to fill. It’s a lot I have to do. It’s a lot of work that has to be put in – countless hours.”Abram mentioned other great Raiders safeties, but left off the other great number 24 Willie Brown from his mentions. But he understands there’s a long list of great corners that came before him.“For me it’s a rich history and tradition of all the type of DB’s that played here. So, for my position it just means a lot. There’s a lot of greats that come before me who I want to be in my career when it’s all said and done. So, to be able to put on the Silver & Black it just means the world. This is a DB organization.”Follow @LeviDamien ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — After spending his first 10 NFL seasons in Green Bay with the same quarterback and head coach, Jordy Nelson acknowledged it took a little time to adjust to his new environment with the Oakland Raiders.Nelson got over that fairly quickly and has done his best to fit in and adjust right away, becoming a leader in the receiver room and a trusted target for quarterback Derek Carr.“He’s been a playmaker on the field,” coach Jon Gruden said Monday. “He’s been a consistent Bo Jackson Jersey White , reliable target at a couple positions. He’s been a real good influence behind the scenes. We’ve been really, really happy with his addition to this team.”Nelson gets the chance to reunite with Aaron Rodgers, coach Mike McCarthy and the rest of his former Packers teammates when Green Bay visits the Raiders on Friday night in an exhibition game.“Those are the guys you miss that you see day-to-day, that you don’t get to talk to as much as you’re used to,” Nelson said. “It’ll be fun to see them. It’s kind of enjoyable as a preseason game so we can have some fun and get in and get out.”The 33-year-old Nelson struggled last season with 53 catches for 482 yards and six TDs, recording a career-low 9.1 yards per reception as Rodgers missed more than half the year with injuries. Nelson had 25 catches for 290 yards and all six of his TDs in five games before Rodgers broke his collarbone last season. Those numbers plummeted once Brett Hundley took over and the Packers released Nelson in March. He signed a two-year deal with the Raiders, who believe he still has burst left in his game.Carr heard plenty about Nelson from his former college teammate at Fresno State, Davante Adams, who played the past four seasons with Nelson in Green Bay. Carr said the only thing that has surprised him about Nelson is that he still has the speed of a much younger player.“Everything that you hear about him is what you get,” Carr said. “He helps the receiver room raise their level, whether you’re the second guy, third guy or you’re just trying to make the team, he raises the level for others. It’s not only with the way that he practices and works out and the way he takes care of his body and those things https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , but the way he goes after it mentally. He wants to think like the quarterback. If we throw a ball, we’re always communicating. We’ll say, ‘Hey, if they play it this way, I like it like this.’ Just the way he communicates, it rubs off on those young guys, too.”He had four 1,000-yard seasons in Green Bay, including 1,519 yards on 98 catches in 2014. In 136 career games, he has 550 catches for 7,848 yards and 69 TDs.Nelson made the Pro Bowl in 2014 and won AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2016 when he led the league with 14 touchdown catches a year after missing the entire season with a right knee injury.Once he got comfortable enough with the new offense in Oakland, Nelson has been able to share some of what he learned with younger receivers in Oakland.“Once I started feeling that out Derek Carr Jersey White , I’ve been able to have more conversations with guys and really get into the fine details of maybe some suggestions or ways to help them create more separation, which is what we’re all trying to get at the end of the day,” he said. While Nelson and Amari Cooper are entrenched as starters in Oakland, Gruden is still searching for someone to emerge as the third receiver. Martavis Bryant has been in and out of practice and Seth Roberts missed close to two weeks with an injury.Roberts returned to practice Monday but his time away has allowed Ryan Switzer and Griff Whalen to get more time in the slot in practice with Carr.“We’re all sitting there excited to see what happens,” Carr said. “They’re all, I think, healthy. We’ll see. I think they’re all mentally ready, physically ready. Hopefully come game time, we can sit there and we can evaluate that spot.”

Jon Gruden got hired as a head coach long before his brother Jay and he got fired as a head coach long before his brother got a pink slip in Washington on Monday morning. The firing of the younger Gruden brother came up as a topic of conversation during the elder Gruden brother’s press conference on Tuesday. The Raiders head coach said it was something of a family tradition.“Got a lot of respect for my brother obviously and disappointed for him getting fired Dwayne Haskins Jersey White ,” Gruden said, via Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group. “But my dad’s been fired, I’ve been fired, Jay’s been fired. Welcome to the club Dwayne Haskins Jersey , bro.”Jay Gruden worked as an assistant for his brother when Jon Gruden was the Buccaneers head coach from 2002-2008. of the two men working together again in Oakland, but didn’t speculate about the likelihood of that happening. Bruce Allen isn’t going anywhere.Allen will remain the team president in Washington and oversee both football and business operations in 2019, team spokesman Tony Wylie told the .“There was never any question about this,” Wylie said. “Of course he’s coming back.”There may not have been any questions internally Wes Martin Jersey , but on the outside there were questions, both because a lot of fans blame Allen for the team’s declining fortunes, and because it was unclear where Allen stood after the major shakeup in Washington’s front office. But Allen only has to satisfy one person, and that’s owner Dan Snyder. And Snyder is satisfied with Allen’s job performance and hopes Allen can help him get a new stadium built within the next decade. So no matter how many fans want Allen out Womens Bryce Love Jersey , there are no indications that Snyder is going to get rid of him, this year, next year or ever.
With Steelers receiver Antonio Brown becomes the latest Womens James Conner Jersey , and highest profile, player slated to be traded when the new league year begins, it makes sense to keep one very important point in mind: None of these deals will become official until Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. ET.This means that any of the trades can fall apart, without consequence to the team that chooses not to proceed. The Broncos, for example, could decide that they have a better option at quarterback than Joe Flacco, and they can decide not to proceed with the scheduled trade with the Ravens. Washington can decide to pursue a quarterback other than Case Keenum T. J. Watt Jersey White , telling the Broncos, “No thanks.” And the Steelers or the Raiders can decide not to go forward with the biggest trade of the year to date. While the league office can and will do nothing if any of these trades fall apart, it will create hard feelings between the teams and, more importantly, between the people involved. It’s a small industry, and relationships drive employment. Lifetime enemies would be created if someone reneges on one of these deals, and the bigger the deal the harder the feelings Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , if the trade doesn’t happen.Of course, those who own the teams may not care much about that, since they don’t have to worry about having a network of future potential employers in place. But if those who own the teams fully understand how the football world works, they’ll make sure that these unofficial deals are regarded as official, in order to best keep peace and order among the 32 independent businesses that actually aren’t.Based on some of the things we’ve seen from some of the owners in recent years, that may not be a safe assumption. If I were to tell Steelers’ fans after Week 9 of the season the team would go 1-1 over their next two games, they probably would have been satisfied with the results. While few people expected the Steelers to beat the Rams Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , they had hoped the Steelers would win against the struggling Cleveland Browns. Underdogs in both games, the Steelers went to 1-1 but not in the order that fans expected. It wasn’t merely just a loss, but the ineptitude of the Steelers offense to get back into a game in which they really had no business being close in the fourth quarter. But Week 11 is now behind us, and the Steelers look to travel into Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati with a few extra days of rest. Still decimated by injuries especially on offense, the Steelers need to right the ship now before it’s too late. When it comes to the betting lines for Sunday’s game, the following information is the current consensus spread and over/under for the Steelers this week as reported by oddsshark.com. Game Info: Week 12Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, November 24 Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , 2019 at 1:00 PMBetting line: -7Over/under: 39Last Regular Season Meeting: Steelers (W) 33-3 vs Bengals Win streak: 9 games PITLast 3 Meetings: PIT 3 - 0 CINLast 10 Meetings: PIT 9 - 1 CINthe schedule was released in April. Even with the injuries suffered to the Steelers in 2019, the Bengals are the only winless team in the NFL therefore moving the line in Pittsburgh’s favor. While the oddsmakers like the Steelers, they are not as confident in their offense to lead the way as the over/under in lowest Pittsburgh has seen in 2019.Being favored on Sunday, the Steelers have a current moneyline of -310 to win the game straight up, which is the equivalent of 10/31 odds. So a $20 bet placed on the Steelers over the Bengals would have a payout of $26.45 ($6.45 plus the original $20 bet). The Bengals have a current moneyline of +260, or 13/5 odds. Therefore the same $20 bet placed on Cleveland to win straight up would have a payout of $72 ($52 pus the original $20 bet) .According to Oddsshark.com, the Steelers are 6-0 straight up in their last 6 games in Cincinnati and the total has gone UNDER in 9 of their last 10 road games. The Steelers also have gone UNDER in 4 of their last 5 games and are 6-3 straight up against their last 9 games against AFC opponents. If looking at the futures bets JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey White , the Steelers odds to win the Super Bowl vary from 80/1 to 150/1. They also have varying odds to win the AFC Championship from 40/1 odds to 80/1. As for winning the AFC North, the Steelers are at 6/1 odds and they are projected to place second the AFC North. Baltimore has better odds to win the division at 1/8 while Cincinnati has been eliminated from the AFC North race.
In 2003 Womens Antonio Brown Jersey , the NFL had three minority head coaches: future Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Dungy, Herman Edwards and Marvin Lewis. In the 12 previous seasons, there had been six. Total.Considering that the majority of the players in the league 16 years ago were minorities, that imbalance was enormous. And disturbing.Paul Tagliabue, then the NFL commissioner, put together a committee that established the "Rooney Rule," which requires all teams with coaching and front office vacancies to interview minority candidates. The rule, long overdue, was named for the late Dan Rooney, then president of the Pittsburgh Steelers and head of that committee.Rooney, one of the league's most enlightened and free-thinking owners, recognized that opportunities for minority coaching candidates were far too limited throughout the NFL — even in searches for assistant coaches."Like the commissioner, he understood there was a gap that needed to be addressed immediately," says Art Rooney II, Dan's son and now Steelers president. "We needed to make major steps in the area of minority hirings, and it needed to be done in a manner that was clear to all franchises, and completely transparent."When initiated, the Rooney Rule was a trendsetter for professional sports organizations. Quickly, there was a more steady stream of minority candidates getting interviewed, and by 2006, there were seven minority head coaches."I thought it was going to be difficult to implement the rule right way and that there would be a disconnect with what Dan had in mind, and how to execute it Antonio Brown Jersey White ," says Dungy. "Dan was one of most up-front people you would ever meet and his idea was if it would cause people to slow the process down and investigate more thoroughly, then they would do a good job. And people who deserve an opportunity — whether minorities or not — will automatically come to the top."People would dig and dig and come up with good people, and in theory it is a good idea, and when people do it, I think they do uncover good candidates, whether minorities or not."The numbers have fluctuated through the years — as they have among front office personnel. But it never has kept up with the percentage of minority players. There is particular concern today regarding diversity in the existing structure for hiring of assistant coaches. Art Rooney has expressed such concerns, and Troy Vincent, the NFL's football operations chief and highest-ranking African American, joined the league's diversity committee this year."We had a meeting back in (last) December talking about the pipeline for minority coaches in the league," Vincent says. "I would say there is a general agreement that we need to look for ways to grow the pipeline, to grow the opportunities for minority coaches to advance. I think it's something we'll spend some time looking at as this offseason goes on."That's particularly true on offense."For whatever reason, the opportunity for minority coaches seem to be stronger on the defensive side of the ball," Vincent adds, "and the coaches that have advanced to become head coaches from the minority perspective, most of them have come from the defensive side. It's something we need to look at how do we improve the opportunities on the offensive side for minority coaches?"In theory, that should never have become an issue. What Dan Rooney, Tagliabue, and the Fritz Pollard Alliance that champions diversity in the NFL envisioned has not exactly come to fruition. One issue often mentioned is tokenism. How real are the interviews given to minority candidates? Are they simply brought in to comply with the Rooney Rule even as teams have no intent of hiring them? That, of course, can be true for any candidates. But if it happens to minorities — many backers of more diversity within the league would say “when it happens” — it's clearly a violation of the spirit of Dan Rooney's vision."It is an issue that occurs," Art Rooney says, "and when it does Bo Jackson Jersey White , it's a setback for diverse hiring, for sure."One case that caused a stir came after the 2017 season, when the Raiders sought a new head coach and almost immediately turned to Jon Gruden. Certainly being able to rehire Gruden, the last coach to have a steady winner in Oakland and a man who parried all advances by NFL teams while he worked as an ESPN analyst for nine years, was a coup. But there was a storm of suspicions that the team didn't bother with the parameters of the Rooney Rule. The Pollard Alliance lodged a complaint with the NFL after Raiders owner Mark Davis said he'd decided on Gruden even before minority candidates were interviewed by GM Reggie McKenzie. Davis hired Gruden, and the league found no violations: two black assistants — Tee Martin of USC, and the Raiders' Bobby Johnson — were interviewed.Dungy is troubled by such machinations."If you just say, `I am going to satisfy the letter of law, interview a minority candidate and then hire who I want anyway,' then of course it doesn't work, and it creates hard feelings," Dungy says. "And that is what happens more and more. An owner wants an offensive coach, maybe a quarterbacks guy, so he interviews a defensive backfield coach who is a minority to satisfy (the Rooney Rule). And then he hires the offensive guy he wanted all along."I see that more and more from the way things take place, the rule not working. But I can remember when it has worked. Like when Bill Parcells was in Miami and talked to (Dungy protege) Leslie Frazier and didn't hire him. But he came away with an understanding of who Leslie was and he talked to others about him around the league. Bill said, `This is a good coach and you ought to take a look at him,' and that is how it is supposed to work."It did as Frazier became the Vikings’ head coach in 2010.Art Rooney and Commissioner Roger Goodell disagreed this year on how to measure the effect of the rule. Goodell reasoned it can't be measured in one-year increments after five minority head coaches were fired and only Miami's Brian Flores was hired. Art Rooney insisted that is exactly how to judge the progress — or lack thereof.Regardless, the Rooney Rule has had a positive impact, and not only in the NFL. Art Rooney has seen it spread to other sports leagues and to companies in general. He knows his father and Tagliabue created something significant and everlasting."It is a good rule, an important rule," he says, "and we will continue implementing is as it was designed. That's the right thing to do."AP Pro Football Writer Josh Dubow and Sports Writer John Wawrow contributed.Silver Mining 10/12: Raiders choose the Redeye for travel to London Raiders NewsRed-eye Raiders: No need for acclimation in Jon Gruden's travel plans - NFL Nation- ESPNThe Raiders depart Thursday night on a 10-plus-hour flight to London ahead of Sunday's game with the Seahawks https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-carr-jersey , who left Wednesday.Raiders gird for London travel - SFChronicle.comLONDON — When cornerback Leon Hall traveled to London for a game with the New York Giants in 2016, he tried passing part of the trans-Atlantic flight by sleeping. “I remember going to sleep and I thought I slept for, like, ever,” Hall said. “And then I realized I only slept for like an hour and 15 minutes.” Which left plenty of time to fill. “Movies,” Hall said. “I get up and walk around a lot, mess around with people, get nosy, I don’t know. Close losses have defined the Los Angeles Chargers' season. The Jacksonville Jaguars would take one of those right now.The Jaguars (4-8) have been blown out in four straight Phillip Lindsay Jersey White , trailing by as many as 25, 32, 24 and 23 points in lopsided affairs that crushed the team's playoffs hopes and turned the final month of the season into an endless debate about the futures of coach Doug Marrone, personnel chief Tom Coughlin, general manager Dave Caldwell and quarterback Nick Foles.Jacksonville will try to end the skid Sunday at home against the Chargers (4-8), who have dropped three in a row. Each of those losses — just like the previous five — was by seven points or less."It's been tough," said Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who turns 38 on Sunday. "Obviously, to be on the losing end of eight one-score games is tough. ... It has been a tough go, but we have the fourth quarter (of the season) left. We can only control what we have left."Rivers has played a huge role in LA's problems. The veteran has 17 turnovers, including the second-most interceptions (15) in the league. But he could find refuge against Jacksonville, a team he's tormented over the years. Rivers has thrown for 2,354 yards and 21 touchdowns in eight career starts against the Jaguars. He has 13 TD passes and an interception in his last four against Jacksonville."He's a guy that if you make the small mistakes or if you're half a yard off your assignment, he's going to make you pay for it," Jaguars defensive tackle Abry Jones said. "He's a guy that likes to talk a lot of trash and is always willing to back it up. I don't want to hear him talk all day, so we're going to have to go out there defensively and do our job."What kind of smack?"Very wholesome Womens Phillip Lindsay Jersey , Godly talk," Jones added. "Very impressive. I don't think I can go that long without cussing."The Jaguars have given fans reason to swear in recent weeks. The offensive line is a mess. The tight end situation is even worse. The defense can't stop the run and could be down four starters from the opener. Teammates had to be separated in the locker room following last week's home loss to Tampa Bay.Maybe rookie sensation Gardner Minshew will fix everything.Marrone benched Foles after three lackluster starts — he had twice as many turnovers (four) as touchdowns and was sacked eight times in 10 quarters — and switched back to Minshew for the remainder of the season. Minshew is considerably more mobile than Foles and is at his best while improvising. He has 14 touchdown passes and five interceptions, but also has lost seven of his 12 fumbles."He has done some really good things for a rookie," Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said. "It just seems like that team is inspired by him when he comes in the game. ... It's not fluff. If you watch the tape, the guy makes plays. He extends plays, he's creative. He throws with some accuracy and he runs; he's mobile."Here are some other things to know about the Chargers and Jaguars:BRADLEY RETURNSFormer Jaguars coach Gus Bradley returns to Jacksonville for the second time in three seasons as the Chargers' defensive coordinator. Bradley still has a home and plenty of friends in Jacksonville. Marrone, defensive coordinator Todd Wash, tight ends coach Ron Middleton and assistant special teams coordinator Mike Mallory all worked under Bradley, who lost in overtime his first game back two years ago.ROOKIE STRUGGLESThe Chargers are allowing a league-low 259 yards from scrimmage since Week 6, but they are 0-2 against rookie quarterbacks. Pittsburgh's Devlin Hodges and Denver's Drew Lock won their first NFL starts against Los Angeles. Next rookie up: Minshew.END ZONE WATCHChargers reciever Mike Williams, who has at least one reception of 40 or more yards in five consecutive games, is still looking for his first touchdown of the season. It's an odd drought considering he had 11 touchdowns (10 receiving, one rushing) last year.CROSSING PATHSMarrone pretty much discovered Chargers veteran linebacker Thomas Davis. Marrone was Georgia's offensive line coach in 2000 when he was tasked with scouting a quarterback/free safety at Randolph Clay High in Cuthbert, Georgia. Marrone watched him play, invited him to camps, met his parents and ended up getting a commitment."You don't realize what they're going to be John Elway Jersey White , but Thomas is a story that's one I'll always look back on and be really appreciative of, knowing how hard he's worked and what happened and how he's changed everything," said Marrone, who ended up leaving for Tennessee before Davis signed with the Bulldogs. The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday they have hired Dustin Little as their new head athletic trainer. where he spent the last five seasons serving in various roles. He was the team’s assistant athletic trainer/physical therapist (2014-15), director of rehabilitation/assistant athletic trainer/DPT (2016-17) and director of rehabilitation/assistant athletic trainer (2018).“We are excited to add Dustin to our health and performance team and believe he is a tremendous fit for our group,” G.M. John Lynch said in a statement. “A wide net was cast for this search, and we simply kept coming back to him. Our due diligence and a great recommendation from the Broncos organization, which is highly regarded for the care of its players, made us extremely confident in bringing Dustin aboard.”The 49ers fired their head strength and conditioning coach, Ray Wright, after last season and brought on Ben Peterson to serve in a sports science role overseeing the department. Little’s addition is the latest change to the strength and conditioning, and trainings staffs of the team.

The Latest on NFL free agency Thursday (all times EDT)10 p.m.A person with direct knowledge of the contract tells The Associated Press that the New York Jets and cornerback Brian Poole have agreed on a one-year deal worth $3.5 million. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the deal.Poole played his first three NFL seasons with Atlanta https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , but the Falcons did not tender him a contract as a restricted free agent — making him an unrestricted free agent and free to sign elsewhere. The 26-year-old Poole has four career interceptions and five sacks. Signed in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of Florida, he had his best season last year when he set career highs with three interceptions, three sacks and 74 total tackles.Poole will likely replace Buster Skrine as the Jets’ nickel corner. Skrine signed with Chicago as a free agent after four seasons in New York.— Reporting by Dennis Waszak Jr. in New York. NEW YORK (AP) — Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt has been fined $20,054 by the NFL for his hit on Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan Womens Terrell Edmunds Jersey , and the Steelers linebacker says he will appeal it.Watt rolled into the right leg of Ryan during the Steelers’ 41-17 victory last Sunday and was called for roughing the passer. Watt, who had three sacks and was named the AFC defensive player of the week, said earlier in the week that he pulled his hands off the quarterback and that can be seen in the film.Houston’s J.J. Watt, T.J.’s older brother T. J. Watt Jersey White , tweeted “That is insanity” and “$20,000 for this?!?!?” on Friday when news of the fine began to leak.Among other players fined $20,054 on Saturday for illegal hits on quarterbacks include: the Jets’ Brandon Copeland, San Francisco’s K’Waun Williams Terrell Edmunds Jersey White , Indianapolis’ Najee Goode, Oakland’s Arden Key was docked $26,739 for unnecessary roughness in the Raiders’ loss to the Los Angles Chargers.Several players were fined $10,026 by the league for various infractions Womens JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey , including: Kansas City’s Kareem Hunt (unsportsmanlike conduct), Dee Ford (unsportsmanlike conduct) and Chris Jones (unnecessary roughness); Atlanta’s Foyesade Oluokun (unnecessary roughness); Green Bay’s Tony Brown (unsportsmanlike conduct); Cincinnati’s Michael Johnson (unnecessary roughness); Miami’s Martrell Spaith (unsportsmanlike conduct); and New Orleans’ Michael Thomas (unsportsmanlike conduct).
Raiders Preseason Wk 3 Film Session: Donald Penn not so ‘smooth’ at right tackle Pre-season Week 3 saw Raiders host the Green Bay Packers at the Oakland Coliseum. This game was Donald Penn’s first action back after rehabbing a lisfranc foot injury this off-season.Donald Penn not only has to get back in shape but also learn a new position Womens Derek Carr Jersey , starting at Right Tackle for the first time in his career. Penn has earned compliments for being a great teammate and giving Kolton Miller a chance to develop into a starting Left Tackle; Offensive Coordinator Greg Olsen even going so far as to call Penn “smooth” in his transition from left to right. test and while some might say he “passed” it certainly wasn’t with flying colors. Here is a film breakdown of Penn’s day.FootworkThis pass set by Penn happened on the Carr bomb downfield to Amari Cooper.Notice how Donald Penn (playing right tackle) has his left foot back as if he’s still playing on the left side.Penn’s foot positioning gives up the outside and he loses balance trying to flip his hips in recovery.Shout out to Doug Martin showing veteran pass protection savvy by chipping the defensive end and helping Penn get back in position. The exact same thing happened 2 seasons ago during Donald Penn’s first time at right tackle. Penn had to step in after the starter went down against the Saints in Week 1 of 2016.Penn’s foot placement is wrong even before the snap, which is understandable considering he is switching positions mid-game.See how an almost identical rep happens here with Penn losing balance and relying on a tight-end for help.Until Penn gets his feet figured out, he will get himself in trouble like this.So for the time being, Gruden will likely have to continue to give Penn help with running-backs and tight ends staying in to block.Pass ProtectionThis was the worst rep from Penn on the day. Penn takes a vertical set and works his shoulders to the sideline. This opens up Penn’s chest for the defender to bull rush. Penn simply fails to anchor and flat out loses to the pass rusher. This time Penn fails to identify Matthews screaming off the edge—credit to the Packer’s defensive coordinator for showing disguised looks.Penn once again is out of position and extending his arms outside his base. Penn gives just enough of a knudge for Cook to step up in the pocket but this is still counted as a hurry.Run Blocking Penn improved as he got more time and played with much better technique by the 4th series of the game.Penn showcased his athleticism and strength in the run game a few times. One such play happened with Penn matched up against All-Pro Clay Matthews.Penn puts the clamps on Matthews who is no match once the block is secured.Penn had other reps where he showcased his strength and athleticism like this play against Matthews. Most were in the run however and it remains to be seen how long the transition will affect Penn and how much Gruden will have to scheme around Penn’s current pass protection flaws.Takeaways+ Donald Penn still can push people around and showed off good power and upper body strength during a few blocks in the run game.+ The savvy left tackle shows he has a few tricks up his sleeve, even when in bad position, that will help him survive this transition.+ Penn played better as the game went on, really only struggled in his first series of the game.— He is still struggling with transferring weight to his back foot. This is a tough transition after playing on the Left Side for more than a decade in the NFL. However making the same mistakes as 2 years ago is not the best sign.— Penn played the worst of the starting 5 offensive linemen. His shortcomings right now must be schemed around and defensive coordinators will try to take advantage. His natural athleticism allows for fluidity in his movements, and helps give him excellent change of direction skills. He also possesses elite speed (4.4 40).Possesses above average ball skills, and his speed and length allow him to both run with speedy receivers and offer great recovery speed. His experience on the offensive side of the ball as a former wide receiver at times seems to lend him the benefit of a better understanding of what the offense is doing. His size Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , strength and speed allow him to match up against more physically imposing receivers. Add in that he was also a special teams mainstay during his time at Houston, specifically as a gunner on the punt unit, where his length and speed regularly allowed him to both fight off and run away from jammers, and it’s easy to understand the upside the Raiders see in him.WeaknessesHaving spent his first three seasons at Houston as a wide receiver, and a defensive back the past two seasons, he is still learning how to play the position and his technique is still raw. As a result, he is sometimes susceptible to being embarrassed by more polished receivers, such as was seen when he faced off with Deebo Samuel, a second round pick of the San Francisco 49ers, in a practice at the Senior Bowl. Further, while he is certainly a willing tackler, with just two years of experience on the defensive side of the ball, his form can be questionable at times. VerdictJohnson certainly possesses the athleticism and physical build to develop into the type of press corner that the Oakland Raiders are looking for. However, having only played on the defensive side of the ball for his junior and senior seasons, he remains extremely raw. The talent and physical skills are readily visible on tape, and with time and effort he has the potential to develop into a high level corner. That said, getting to that point will be a process, and not something fans should expect right out of the gate.Fit with RaidersThe first place he is likely to contribute is special teams, where willingness to participate on punt and kickoff coverage will be welcome. Beyond special teams he should provide depth in the secondary, as he has the length to step in on the outside if necessary and the athleticism to cover the slot if called upon to do so. As depth, he’ll be able to hone and further develop his skills as a defensive back without the pressure of being one of the team’s top two corners. That should give him the time he needs to further refine his game to the point where it is NFL ready. Also see: BD Williams’ Film breakdown: Trayvon Mulllen vs Isaiah Johnson reps
Broncos cornerback Chris Harris‘s name was mentioned often as a trade candidate leading up to Tuesday’s trade deadline Joe Flacco Jersey , but 4 p.m. ET came and went without Harris being shipped to another club. While there was a time this offseason that Harris was amenable to a deal sending him away from the Broncos, he was not upset to learn that he’d be staying in Denver for the rest of the year.“I’m definitely happy,” Harris said, via Mike Klis of KUSA. “Now, I can just play and get this behind me and focus on finishing strong the rest of the year. Try and get some wins.”The Broncos season has not gone well, but Harris said he enjoys his relationships with the team’s coaches and he has other considerations. His wife is due to give birth to a daughter “any day now” and Harris wants to be around for the arrival of his child.Harris is set for free agency after the season. In my Future Broncos series to date, I’ve covered several topics regarding the team’s future needs as well as some top prospects from the FBS and FCS to look out for in regard to the 2019 NFL Draft. There is still a lot to delve into prospect-wise, and while I usually don’t do mock drafts this early, the current state of the Denver Broncos who are bracing themselves for another cataclysmic season and wild forthcoming offseason filled with immense change prompted this week’s installment to be a mock draft. For this mock draft, I am using the order and pick selection courtesy of Tankathon. Further explanation on how the Broncos acquired the extra selections can be viewed here. Additionally, the team is not expected to receive any compensatory picks in this year’s draft, but here is a deeper look at the selections they possess.Broncos’ 2019 Draft Capital: 44th, 75th, 106th, 137th, 145th (via Minnesota Vikings), 168th, 199th, 223rd (via Los Angeles Rams)With the Broncos slated to pick thirteenth overall, this currently means they would miss out on top prospects such as Justin Herbert (QB, Oregon) and Greedy Williams (CB, LSU), who would undoubtedly be solutions the franchise needs at premier positions. Unfortunately, there are two teams ahead of Denver who will likely be in the market for a franchise quarterback: The New York Giants (currently holding the top selection) and perhaps the Oakland Raiders if John Gruden decides to move on from Derek Carr. That being said, I have not studied Drew Lock or Dwayne Haskins enough to feel comfortable slating them to Denver in the first round. This mock draft will only consist of the first three rounds, but at the end of discussing those three picks, I will outline where I think Denver should focus their handful of Day 3 selections. Without further adieu, here is my three-round Broncos’ mock draft.13th Overall: Devin White, ILB (Junior) — LSU Since I’m opting not to formulate a mega-trade that could somehow land the Broncos a franchise quarterback in the draft, I’m going to go with a difference-maker who is viewed as a top-tier player on the defensive side of the ball where the Broncos clearly need help.I’m doubtful the team elects to use their team-option to retain Brandon Marshall next season. Moreover, it’s quite clear Todd Davis isn’t a long-term solution at linebacker for the Broncos either. Even in a deep inside linebacker class (if juniors declare), that’s why I’m slating Lousiana State junior linebacker Devin White to Denver in the first round.Tremendous size, premier athleticism, tenacity, a non-stop motor and a penchant for creating game-changing turnovers are just some of the reasons why scouts are high on White, who is coming off a tremendous sophomore campaign where he registered 133 tackles, 13.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks and 1 interception. He is also the Tigers’ key communicator on defense, often relaying plays in from the sidelines and helping his teammates with pre-snap adjustments and alignments — which speak to his high football IQ. He is also adept in coverage and most certainly has the ability to be a premier playing and three-down defender in the league. Missing out on a top-tier quarterback or cornerback in the first round will likely merit criticism in the comments section. However, acquiring a prospect of White’s caliber would be great for Denver. Without question, the duo of White and Josey Jewell would give the Broncos a formidable interior of their linebacker corps for years to come.44th Overall: Dalton Risner, OL (Senior) — Kansas StateGarett Bolles is struggling, Jared Veldheer hasn’t been able to stay healthy and is in the final year of his deal and the depth at the tackle spot for the Broncos is concerning to say the least. Even before the season started, I pegged this as one of the franchise’s biggest long-term needs and what has transpired to date reinforces that even more. That makes plugging in Kansas State offensive lineman Dalton Risner in the early second-round to the team a no-brain decision.Risner fits the leadership and team captain mold that the Broncos searched for in last year’s draft process and would provide the team with a plug-and-play starter at right tackle as a rookie. He has been a starter in every game since his redshirt freshman season where he played center, but the last three years have been at right tackle. Additionally, he is widely-regarded as one of the top pass-blocking tackles in this year’s draft — and showed that with an admirable performance earlier in the year against Mississippi State pass rusher Montez Sweat, who is likely a top selection in this year’s draft.I have a feeling Risner will be a draft riser and sneak into the later part of the first round, but with a few other prospects ranked higher than him at his position and the overall depth of this year’s draft class — him being available in the early second round isn’t out of the question.75th Overall: Iman Marshall Bradley Chubb Jersey White , CB (Senior) — USCWith the up-and-down year Bradley Roby has had thus far, I’m not so certain he is going to be retained long-term with the team. He also recently switched agents, which signifies to me that he has his mind set on free agency. While Chris Harris Jr. is still playing at a high-level, he is getting up their in age and there is no doubt the team needs to bolster their secondary which has went from the No Fly Zone to the Frequent Fly Zone at a quick pace. Brendan Langley didn’t pan out and while Isaac Yiadom is getting more snaps than expected this year, they still need a future starter as the position. Enter USC senior cornerback Iman Marshall, who has the skills to be a starting corner in the National Football League for a long time.Back in 2015, he was considered one of, if not the best prep defenders in the entire nation and was ranked in the Top 10 nationally by most outlets. After being highly-sought after by most every major program in the country, the 6’1, 205 pound corner who runs a 4.45 forty-yard dash opted to stay local and commit to the University of Southern California. It was a great decision for him, as he has been a starter ever since his true freshman season and has cemented himself as one of the best corner prospects available in the 2019 NFL Draft.Marshall is a physical defensive back who uses his size, length and physicality to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage and excels in man coverage. He had one of his best games a few years ago when he snagged two interceptions off of current Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen. One of the key judgment factors for me for any prospect is how well they play against top competition, and Marshall has proven his worth against a first-round player. To date, Marshall has racked up 125 tackles, 6 interceptions and 30 passes defended in 42 games as a starter. That’s big-time production in a conference known for slinging the ball around the field. After delving into several of his highlight tapes, he had issues being over-aggressive in coverage which has caused him to give up just as many big plays as he wracks up for the Trojans. That being said, his occasional lapses and coverage and discipline aren’t too big of a worry for me, as those deficiencies can be corrected with proper coaching. If the Broncos were able to get a player of his caliber in the early third round, I’d be extremely satisfied. Day 3 Positional Considerations and ProspectsThe Broncos have all of their original selections in rounds four through seven, as well additional fifth and seventh round selections from trades this past offseason. Here are some of my thoughts for positions they should target, as well as a handful of prospects at each position. The defensive line depth in this year’s class is crazy, so I would feel comfortable with the Broncos getting an eventual replacement for Domata Peko here. the injury history and lack of production from those currently on the roster. This is also a time in the draft where I would like to see Denver add another safety, with the fact that Darian Stewart may be a cap casualty after the season is over. The big question to me is what the Broncos do with Matt Paradis this offseason. If he gets extended, it’s not a major need by any means, but a prospect for depth purposes should be considered. Last but not least, the Broncos did draft Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton in this past draft, but if franchise opts to get rid of either Demaryius Thomas or Emmanuel Sanders, adding another weapon at receiver would be wise — it’s a deep class at the position.Day 3 defensive tackle prospects: Demarcus Christmas (Florida State), Dontavius Russell (Auburn), Olive Sagapolu (Wisconsin), Daylon Mack (Texas A&M), Raequan Williams (Michigan State)Day 3 tight end prospects: Tommy Sweeney (Boston College), Alize Mack (Notre Dame), Irv Smith Jr. (Alabama), Logan Parker (Southern Utah)Day 3 safety prospects: Andrew Wingard (Wyoming), J.R. Reed (Georgia), Tanner Muse (Clemson), Will Harris (Boston College), Evan Worthington (Colorado)Day 3 center prospects: Sam Mustipher (Notre Dame), Ryan Anderson (Wake Forest), Jesse Burkett (Stanford), Sean Krepsz (Nevada)Day 3 wide receiver prospects: Jaylen Smith (Louisville), Gary Jennings Jr. (West Virginia), Steven Sims Jr. (Kansas), Emmanuel Butler (Northern Arizona)Feel free to sound off in the comments section and give your own Broncos mock draft, as well as discussing other prospects and all scenarios you envision for the franchise next April.
Washington has chronically mishandled the Trent Williams dispute. Which is no surprise https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-haskins-jersey , because in recent years Washington chronically has chronically mishandled problems like this — as discussed earlier today on .At to Williams, one man is trying to fix it. Even if he’s apparently going it alone.Offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell appeared Thursday on 106.7 The Fan, and he made an open plea for Williams to come back.“There’s no doubt if, Trent, you’re out there and you’re listening, man, we’d love to have you back as soon as possible,” O’Connell said. That’s an appropriate senitment, but what has the team actually done to make Williams feel wanted? When Adrian Peterson was ambivalent about playing for the Vikings in 2015, coach Mike Zimmer and G.M. Rick Spielman went to Houston to make an in-person plea to get Williams to play. There’s been no report or suggestion that Washington has done anything like that with Williams — and if they had, surely someone would have leaked it in order to make it look like the team has tried to get him back.At this point, with so many hard feelings between Williams and the team and no apparent effort by the team to undo whatever damage was done to make Williams feel the way that he feels about the team, all O’Connell can do is talk.“There’s no denying that and every Redskin fan out there knows that he’s an elite player Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey ,” O’Connell said. “Obviously, nobody wants him back more than me. I’m right up there with every other guy walking in the halls of this building right now, we want him back badly.”O’Connell seems to realize that isn’t happening, and that Plan B is now Plan A.“[W]e feel good about the depth that we have over there on that left side,” O’Connell said. “It’s still sorting itself out, both at the guard position and the tackle position.”One thing that likely won’t be sorting itself out is the confrontation with Williams. With Williams apparently determined not to play for Washington and Washington apparently determined not to do anything other than wait him out, the chances of Williams walking through the front door of the facility remain very slim, at best. The countdown of the top 30 storylines entering the 2019 season continues, and the pivot from No. 30 to No. 29 entails shifting from a team that addressed its quarterback position on a long-term basis with the first overall pick in the 2012 draft to a team that presumed it did the same with the second overall pick in the 2012 draft.Seven years later, Robert Griffin III has become a distant memory in D.C. (despite the constant reminder of his lingering NFL presence in nearby Baltimore), and Washington has rolled the dice on another first-round quarterback. This time, maybe they’ve gotten it right. Dwayne Haskins, only the third Ohio State quarterback ever to be drafted in round one Dwayne Haskins Jersey White , arguably would have been the darling of the 2019 class but for Kyler Murray‘s decision to choose football over baseball. Also, Haskins’ presence in the NFC East creates a compelling apples-to-apples comparison with Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, who was drafted a full nine spots higher.Haskins could indeed be the real deal, even if a certain goofball comment by a certain weekday-morning ESPN goofball that Haskins is more of a runner than a passer sparked a backlash that has other weekday-morning goofballs with other media outlets still assuming that Haskins isn’t mobile. Haskins is mobile, as it relates to the things he can do to keep a play alive behind the line of scrimmage. He buys time with his feet to find open receivers, and if he can do the same thing when the guys against whom he’s buying time are NFL-caliber defenders, Haskins could be special. For now, the question as it relates to the 2019 season will be when do we see that? The challenge for Haskins, who has one year of college football starting experience, will be to master the offense quickly enough to overcome both Colt McCoy‘s knowledge of it and Case Keenum‘s grossly underrated skillset. Like Haskins, Keenum has the ability to extend plays by moving left or right or left and right behind the line. o it at the NFL level, with a special season in 2017 that became forgotten as quickly as it arrived after a subpar 2018 in Denver. The overriding question for Washington becomes whether the goal this year is to win as many games as possible or to accelerate Haskins’ learning curve for the benefit of future versions of the team. Given that coach Jay Gruden seems to be as aware as the rest of us that the ice under his feet is getting thinner and the seat under his butt is getting hotter Dwayne Haskins Jersey , he’ll be inclined to use the guy that gives the team the best chance to contend. Also, it will be easier to roll the dice from Week One with McCoy or Keenum and then, if needed, flip to Haskins. Once Haskins is the starter, it becomes tricky to bench him, lest it damage his ability to eventually reach his overall ceiling, wherever it may be.It may be very high. The question is whether Washington currently has or will ever have enough around him to allow him to get there. As Haskins’ rookie season begins, the more important question is when/if we’ll see him play as a rookie. He has said on multiple occasions that he’s fine with playing or not playing, but like any NFL player Haskins surely wants to play, sooner than later.
NEW YORK (AP) — Le’Veon Bell sat out a full season while considering where he’d make his next playmaking moves.Well-rested https://www.thesteelerslockerroom.com/authentic-juju-smith-schuster-jersey , motivated and armed with a new contract, the star running back is joining Sam Darnold and the New York Jets.Bell agreed to a deal early Wednesday morning, a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press. The decision ended months of speculation about where he’d resume his playing career after six years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because teams can’t officially announce signings until the start of the new league year Wednesday afternoon.ESPN first reported the signing, and said the deal is for four years and $52.5 million — including $35 million guaranteed.Bell, a former Michigan State star, also announced his decision on Twitter , saying: “I’m back in the green baby, let’s get it.”Several teams were mentioned throughout the past few days as having interest in signing Bell, with the Jets consistently among them. Many football fans and reporters took to their computers to download the new album released at midnight by the running back — who goes by the stage name “Juice” — to glean any potential clues in his lyrics he might have included about his next football destination. The news, however, came as many were in between tracks. And, Bell was immediately a big-time hit among the Jets and their fans.“Welcome my brutha @LeVeonBell,” linebacker Avery Williamson tweeted.“I’m in Miami brotha,” safety Jamal Adams tweeted at Bell. “We going up tonight!!!”The deal gives Darnold and new coach Adam Gase a big-time playmaker, arguably the best player at his position before Bell opted to sit out all of last season rather than sign a franchise tender with Pittsburgh. The 27-year-old Bell is a two-time AP All-Pro selection and three-time Pro Bowl pick who immediately upgrades the Jets’ backfield.New York still has Isaiah Crowell, Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon, but Crowell is likely to be released after one season with the team. Bilal Powell, the team’s fourth-round pick in 2011 Womens James Conner Jersey , is a free agent and unlikely to be back.Bell has rushed for 5,336 yards and 35 touchdowns, and has 312 catches for 2,660 yards and seven scores as one of the most versatile and dangerous offensive players in the NFL. His 128.9 yards from scrimmage per game over his career is the best mark in the NFL since the 1970 merger.Bell’s career reached a crossroads, however, last year when he declined to sign his one-year, $14.4 million franchise tender with the Steelers and made himself ineligible to play. It was an unprecedented move as Bell — who received the franchise tag in two straight years — skipped a season in his prime to preserve his long-term health and secure a big payday.Last month, Pittsburgh decided to not place the transition tag on Bell. That cleared the running back to become an unrestricted free agent when the NFL’s new year begins Wednesday. And the Jets pounced on a player they think can help Darnold take their offense to another level — despite the fact Bell hasn’t played since Pittsburgh’s playoff loss to Jacksonville on Jan. 14, 2018. That means it will be a span of 19 months in between game appearances by the time the preseason begins in August. The Steelers drafted Bell with the 48th overall pick in 2013. He combined with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Antonio Brown to form Pittsburgh’s “Killer B’s” on offense, a potent trio of game-breaking talents. With his patient running style and explosive burst, Bell quickly established himself as one of the best backs in the league. He was also a top pass-catcher out of the backfield, finishing 10th in the league with 85 catches in 2017. That combination of production had Bell focused on a contract that rewarded him like the dual threat he is.He and the Steelers failed to reach an agreement on a new deal last summer, and he skipped training camp for the second straight year. This time, though, he never returned to the team.Instead, he’ll join the Jets and look to re-establish himself as arguably the best overall running back in the game — and try to help a franchise that hasn’t been to the playoffs since the 2010 season get back to winning. The move to get Bell was the latest in a busy two days for general manager Mike Maccagnan and the Jets, who also have agreed to deals with linebacker C.J. Mosley, wide receivers Jamison Crowder and Josh Bellamy T. J. Watt Jersey , and are re-signing defensive end Henry Anderson and backup cornerback Darryl Roberts. New York also acquired left guard Kelechi Osemele from Oakland over the weekend. On Tuesday night, either will provide transparency and clarity to the Antonio Brown helmet fight, or it won’t.Based on last week’s episode, bet the under.Peter King made this observation about the situation in his latest column: “‘Hard Knocks’ is either going to show a slice of this Brown story this week, with some real video and team reaction, or it’s Pravda. And I know Ken Rodgers of NFL Films, the curator of this show. He will want to show the real story, very much.”The 2019 debut episode of tiptoed around Brown’s foot issues, referring on multiple occasions to his inability to practice but not once hinting at what was keeping him from running at full speed. Given that, earlier in the day, Chris Simms had explained on that Brown’s problems trace to a cryotherapy chamber that was entered without proper footwear, it became obvious that Raiders coach Jon Gruden had exercised his prerogative to make the supposed reality show into a this-is-fine infomercial.Indeed, the helmet issue was quietly raging before last Tuesday, with subsequent reports suggesting that Brown’s absence from practice has more to do with the dispute over his desire to wear a so-old-it-can’t-be-recertified helmet than the frostbitten feet. But not a mention of the helmet fiasco made its way into .It’s no surprise. The Raiders didn’t want to do the show. Something caused them to tolerate the intrusion, and that something very well may have been a sweeping license to control the content, perhaps broader and more binding than any team has ever had.e clock, frankly. With precious minutes devoted to a wine-country horseback ride, an extended 19-year-old clip of John Madden (who hasn’t coached the Raiders in more than 40 years) talking about the seven-man blocking sled Jerome Bettis Jersey White , a alumnus who didn’t get much of a chance to stick around in camp, and anything/everything but practice-field and meeting-room interactions, the Raiders managed to keep to a bare minimum the sights and sounds of actual training camp. Most importantly, the biggest story surrounding the team — Brown’s absence — successfully got short shrift.Gruden, who has no choice but to stubbornly support a player who undoubtedly is closely monitoring everything the team says and does about him, will want none of the frozen feet or helmet fight material to be included. Ken Rodgers, if he hopes for a show produced by NFL Films (, the NFL) to have any credibility whatsoever, will be pushing Gruden to let the show address the situation. Gruden’s reaction could nevertheless be to invoke whatever behind-the-curtain deal was done to get the Raiders to do the show, stubbornly insisting that it not be addressed. At most, any treatment of Brown’s situation will be crafted to present the situation, somehow, in a light favorable to Brown and the Raiders. Ultimately, that may be impossible to do. Regardless, no one should be expecting to present the hard truth about one of the nuttiest preseason stories in NFL history.
Losing Khalil Mack would become Jon Gruden’s legacy Womens Bo Jackson Jersey , putting permanent dark cloud over his Raiders return Panic mode is setting in. The season is fast approaching and the reports from both sides of Khalil Mack’s contract negotiations are not promising. Specifically that there aren’t any negotiations happening.A report Monday night from Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports paints a bleak picture of the contract standoff between Mack’s people and the Raiders. Here are the details that stand out:1. The impasse is likely to last into the season.2. Negotiations have been at a stalemate since February (we’ve heard this before).3. The situation has devolved into a “pay him or trade him” conversation.4. Jon Gruden has final say on any deal that gets done.5. Gruden is open to trade offers.6. Funding for Mack’s contract is not an issue for Mark Davis.7. Mark Davis may need to step in.9. The team is ok with Mack coming back and playing unhappy.None of this is good news. Gruden knows this. It can’t be understated how much of a mistake botching this would be for Jon Gruden’s legacy. He hasn’t even coached his first game back with the Raiders and he is already in serious danger of raining on his own parade by taking the field without the best defensive player in the NFL.How long has this franchise been waiting to actually draft a player the caliber of Khalil Mack? Have they ever drafted a defender of his talent level? That’s debatable. They’ve only ever drafted one other player who went on to be named Defensive Player of the Year. That was Lester Hayes, who they selected in the 1977 draft and who won the award in 1980 with a still NFL modern-era record 13 interceptions. The only drafted Hall of Fame defender the Raiders have had is Howie Long.Mack is already more accomplished than Hayes and is in the same conversation at Long. That 1980 season was Hayes’s only All Pro season. Long was named All Pro twice. Mack has already been named All Pro twice in four years, including being the only player in the history of the NFL to be named All Pro at two different positions (LB, DE) in the same year.Saying this would be like losing Howie Long in his prime doesn’t even cover it. Long came to the Raiders in their heyday. The Raiders had been an NFL powerhouse for nearly a decade when he started going to Pro Bowls. That team didn’t need a player like Long the way this team has needed, and will continue to need Mack. This franchise hasn’t sniffed success since鈥ell since they were fielding the team Gruden built in 2002. Since he beat them in the Super Bowl in his first season as head coach of the Buccaneers. That Super Bowl loss sent the Raiders on a downward spiral from which they have yet to recover. And it was all because Al Davis traded Gruden for draft picks. It would seem Gruden would understand that trading proven commodities for draft picks is not such a great strategy. Now for Gruden to come back and have his first act be to lose the greatest thing to happen to this team in 17 years? How would the two most lasting memories of Gruden for Raiders fans not be him TWICE ripping their hearts out? And that is to say nothing of the immediately on-field ramifications of attempting to field a shaky defense wholly reliant upon the only solid piece to its foundation. This is not how Gruden wants to get his 10-year, $100 million return to the sideline started. It’s a stain that will never wash off. Nor should it. Get this contract done. Pay the NFL Defensive Player of the Year like he’s the best defensive player in the NFL. Don’t make your first step back into coaching be a permanent, unforgivable black mark.Follow @LeviDamien For most of us Bo Jackson Jersey , the idea that someone would want to make a movie about their life would sound fascinating. Then again, most of us may not have a story worth telling. Raiders rookie Josh Jacobs certainly has a story worth telling. One that a lot of people would be interested in seeing dramatized on film.Shortly after being drafted, Jacobs was approached several times by producers looking to turn make a movie about his life.“I was just being hit up by big-name producers, like three or four of them about doing a movie https://www.raiderslockerroom.com/authentic-antonio-brown-jersey ,” said Jacobs. “I don’t know if I’m going to do it or not. I feel like there’s perfect timing to everything and I just don’t feel like right now is the right time.”Jacobs’ story is the kind Hollywood loves. His family struggled as a child, with bouts of poverty and homelessness while his father struggled to raise Josh and his four siblings. To go from that to star running back at Alabama to first round NFL draft pick is inspirational. Being a rookie who hasn’t even taken an NFL snap yet is one reason Jacobs is hesitant to sign onto any kind of movie deal right now. But it’s more than that. When you make a movie, the writers want every detail. The juicier the better. That means talking about things that happened in his life that aren’t so easily discussed.“Because it’s taking the story into a deeper level,” Jacobs said. “It’s saying some things that I left out in the story that would probably be shown in the movie and I don’t know if I want to do it. I still have to talk to my family about it and see how they feel about it and things like that. But I haven’t really thought about it too much.”One day maybe we’ll see “Long run: The Josh Jacobs story” in theaters at some point. But for now Jacobs is trying to make the ending even more of a success story.Follow @LeviDamien
Ray plans to sign with the Ravens Womens Phillip Lindsay Jersey , pending a physical, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The Broncos drafted Ray with the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, but he was a disappointment and Denver decided to let him walk rather than exercise his fifth-year option. He had 12 sacks in 30 games in his first two seasons, but wrist injuries limited him to 19 games and two sacks the last two seasons.Ray also visited the Colts, Raiders and Seahawks in free agency. In Baltimore, Ray will help out with a pass rush that saw last year’s leader in sacks, Za'Darius Smith, leave for the Packers, and the franchise’s all-time leader in sacks, Terrell Suggs, leave for the Cardinals. He’ll try to show that he still has that first-round talent, and help the Ravens’ defense in a season with significant personnel changes. Should Broncos fans be concerned about the season opener?" Raiders GM Mike Mayock was annoyed.Personally, I am grateful that Antonio Brown’s has turned Raiders camp 2019 into Mayock’s personal Hokey Pokey-hell. There are few things in this world are more delicious than your football arch-rival investing a ridiculous amount of money into a secret weapon who inexplicably burns his feet in a chryo-therapy chamber and then makes it his personal crusade to fight the league on hat choice. Now, I know that Antonio Brown is a veteran and training camp is hard. No matter how irritated Brown is over the helmet thing, I have a feeling that his desire to sit out camp as long as possible has more to do with Antonio’s absence than his helmet. So is Brown willing to forgo a game check to make a point? Doubtful. For all the bluster and noise around Brown covering him, it’s hard to believe that any of this will carry over into the Denver Broncos week one opener at Oakland. While it makes a great story line for HBO’s Hard Knocks and gets Brown out of the day-to-day drudgery that is training camp for the Raiders, when it’s time to play ball, Brown will play. The real question we should be asking is whether or not Antonio Brown will be able to remain healthy enough to make it through the season. We’ve seen plenty of times, players that sit out for extended periods of time are often injured because they lack the conditioning for the stresses of regular season football. Considering the frostbite issues with his feet and the prolonged helmet issue, Antonio Brown’s heath in 2019 is worth watching. Will Denver reap benefits from all the Antonio Brown silliness? It’s tough to say, but every day Brown sits out of Raiders camp is an opportunity for Denver. Broncos fans should celebrate Antonio in his fight against the league regarding his helmet and applaud his departure from Raiders camp over such spurious concerns. On September 9th, Antonio Brown John Elway Jersey White , helmet, feet, and all, will take the field against the Denver Broncos.
